I agree that The Force Awakens has as many jokes than The Last Jedi, and I'm kinda irritated by everyone acting like this has more comedy than other SW movies... what about my pal Jar Jar?

Also - "Kylo Hackford"

and "Moff Jar-Jar-ed"

I loved all the raging against folks in the post-release thread hacking on The Last Jedi too, even being one of those dastardly hackers myself. I don't know what it is that makes anger so entertaining but it works for Bill Burr so I reckon lean into it.

I do wish I could have as big a crush on the film as Justin, ShaunH and RexBanner do though. That seems like a good way to be.

Still have about 30 minutes left, but this has been the best and only thing I need to read or listen to concerning TLJ. The post release thread just makes me feel like humans don’t deserve movies anymore. Like everyone should only be allowed to watch Thord Rock From the Sun reruns, and that’s it. Fuck humanity. Anyways, I thought Nicks ‘Mon Calamari’ bit put the whole thing in the proper perspective. But great episode so far.

Sadly it’s not the Rhinestone recap episode I was hoping for.

I think I sound reasonable...at first. But I lose the thread. Nick's really funny it, so that makes me happy. Don't remember the anti-climatic bit, but another great example of my self-awareness during this one.
Yeah I don't get why you weren't happy with yourself in this one since I was pretty much with you on all of it. But then again I still have about 30 minutes left, so if you start going on about the finer points of blowing a jawa then you'll probably lose me. Actually probably not.

Shut up, you were top notch all the way through.

I think us four listeners are in 100% agreement with you guys.

Well after you finally convinced him to watch Happy Death Day, can you blame him?

About 30 minutes in so far.  Probably should just quit now since it probably doesn't get better than Justin singing Last Christmas.

It gets better. Justin and I go to the suicide forest with hats on.

Steve: "Well, Darth Maul was Zabrak, right? so he had some other colored eyes"

...

Justin: ".....classic"

Hopefully it was exactly like Nightmare on Elm Street 2.

Does cold weather bring out the British in Steve Murphy? He sounded British as FUCK during his introduction.

Glad the Heroic Trio finally re-assembled!

Are you bastards getting a listen in?

Yeah, just been too busy to comment since I was looking up prices for flights from NZL to ATL so I could hug Steve Murphy for successfully living up to expectations.

"Stallone is really smart."

Me: Aww yeah.

"I love Stallone. He's great."

Me: "Oh yeah, motherfuckers, here it comes!"

"I watched every Stallone trailer. Every one."

Me: "Fuck yeah, they're going to do it."

"I like Lethal Weapon more than Die Hard."

Me: "Goddamn motherfucker when are they going to watch Rhinestone?!?"

Of course Lethal Weapon is better than Die Hard.
Tom Atkins blows the shit out of Bedelia with his milk carton.

Steve's great.
I love all the episodes of this show, but he brings the spice.
The missing map to Luke.

It's weird how he dislikes everything... but that's fun.

That moment when Steve said he liked The Phantom Menace more than The Last Jedi, and you just hear Justin sigh, that was me right there.  Pretty much all of that is why I don't go into Star Wars threads.  The Throne Room scene was a bit much?  Too choreographed? Oh come on.

I've listened to the 3-way section twice now and both times it's just splendid.

I just wish we could have seen Nick's face as Steve turned on the movie after apparently having loved it on the day they left the theatre. After all of poor Nick's "I feel like I want to nuke CHUD when I see that Last Jedi thread" sentiments from the previous couple of episodes Steve becomes the living embodiment of that thread right before poor Nick's eyes, ears and mandibles.

I will say everyone was wrong about DJ though. Even the stutter is great.
Thanks for the new episode! I don't think we've ever gotten a recording of Steve talking about a Star Wars release so close to it's opening. It's like spotting a Giant Squid.

I ply Steve with Chinese food and tell him that podcast folks listen to our songs.

He’ll be back.
He'll probably like Rhinestone more than The Last Jedi.

And really there's nothing wrong with that.

I downloaded a bunch a while back and have been listening, but lately had a lot on my plate being a highly-valued contributor to the epicness of the Last Jedi thread.

But if you could use your mod powers to ban Rex, Bart, Nooj, Lightning Slim and Kevin Matchstick from that thread it probably would help me be less distracted by it.

Nope!

Well ... at least now nobody can say I didn't give it my best shot.

Oh shit ... Dalyn's gonna freak.

p.s. Totally with you on your 80s films vs 90s films Nick. Also really liked the way you tied the first three reviews together thematically.

Kind of an embarrassment?

This is a really fun format, how you just kind of pipe in whenever you're on the road and in the mood to goof it up and/or deliver film talks. Everything from the random intros ("Hey Sharlto Copley lookalikes") to the descriptions of stuff you see out your window is a good time.

Top episode aside from the bit where you fail to mention that who gives a fuck about the shite new X-Men films in which everyone except Fassbender is boring as cack, the most important Sophie Turner thing is that she's EASILY one of the most convincing performers on Game of Thrones in which everyone is pretty dang on point.

Damon Albarn's score to Ravenous is a masterpiece that I've consistently listened to for 20 years.

I can't listen to this show anymore.

Edit: The idea of watching that patriotic 12 Strong/American fucking Sniper nonsense but not Paddington? Horrifying. That bear is so cute and funny. Fuck this podcast.

You mention early on how people drive crazy and totally agree.  I have a half hour drive to and from work ever day, and it's turning into a Man Max movie out there.  People constantly cutting each other off.  Nobody using blinkers.  Crazy speeds and weaving.  It's like everyone all of a sudden thinks it's a goddamn NASCAR race.  And for what?  To get home a couple minutes quicker?  Is work that amazing that you just have to get there as soon as possible?

I hate street racing.  Hate it.  I love the Fast and Furious movies.  But there silly action movies.  It's hard not to sound like an old man and blame the F&F franchise for street racing.  That's dumb too.  Street racing has been around forever.  But walking around my neighborhood I pass so many souped up cars with license plates like "TOO FAST" with a long line of decals on the windows.  Okay, now I sound like an old man.

And this shit wouldn't piss me off so much if it weren't for the fact that a few months ago in an intersection around the corner from my house, a couple of these assholes were racing each other in the middle of the afternoon, one lost control and clipped a van and wound up plowing into a little girl who was out on a walk with her grandfather (I think it was grandfather) killing both of them.  They were just standing at the corner waiting for the light to change so they could cross.  I don't care if these pieces of shit kill each other, but their bullshit kills other people.

And it's not just street cars.  So many douchebags here drive around in their giant pickups, zipping around people or just riding on your ass like a dick.  These guys are horrible as well.  And once again, this time just the other day around the corner from my work, two dudes racing pickups, a woman turns at a light, pickup slams into the car instantly killing a 1 year old and an 8 year old, with the woman driving currently in a coma.  If she's the mother, she's going to wake up only to find out that her children are already in the ground.  That is fucked up.  Thanks to this 18 year old ass hole.

Fuck me, this shit just pisses me off.

Finished this today. The last 10 minutes was probably the biggest bummer ending of a podcast ever.
