With so many comedies churning out in the last 2-3 years starring a rotating cast which centers around a mix of Ben Stiller, Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell I thought it'd be interesting to have a poll for favorite, and what the hell, I'll throw in The 40 year old virgin seeing how Paul Rudd and Steve Carell were in Anchorman and are an extension of the group, poll will be open when it comes out so why not.
For me i'd have to say Anchorman cause the whole premise and the cast make it work, i'd have to say Wedding Crashers is hovering around second, Dodgeball third.

Plus Rob Burgundy fight BEARS......it's better than the others because it dosn't give a damn about logic.

Having not seen Wedding or Virgin, had to go for Anchorman. Its just so damn funny... Love Old School too, more for the vibe and Vince Vaughn's sleaze.

No Jack Black films? Surely he's a frat packer too?

ANCHORMAN is greatness, but THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS kills them all.

I love scotch, but I'd have voted for Tenenbaums.

Many I have spoken with about this group of actors have only negative things to say about their brand of comedy. Say what you will about some of the choices made by these guys, but their hits far outweigh their misses. Even Tom Hanks has "Turner and Hooch" on his resume.

Is it just me, or does anyone else get a bit of a "slighly more frenetic version of Bill Murray" vibe from Vince Vaughn?

No. Not... no, just no.

Heh. "The Frat Pack". I like that.

I'd have to say Anchorman is probably my favorite of the movies, but I have to give the honor to The Royal Tenenbaums, since it's honestly just the best movie of the bunch.

I thought that Royal Tenenbaums, while superior isn't in the vein of the other more known films [Old School, Anchorman, and Dodgeball] so I thought i'd leave it out to see how the more comedy related ones match up with each other, as for School of Rock, just plain forgot [which happens when posting around 2:30 in the morning though it dosn't have Stiller, Ferrell, Vaughn, or either Wilson. As for the name, it was coined by USA Today

Look forward to more of their creative stuff.

Gotta go with OLD SCHOOL. You get 3 of these guys in lead roles plus Jeremy Piven, Artie Lange (though all too brief), and Craig Kilborn being suprisingly funny. Who has been able to look at an Olive Garden waitress without thinking of that movie? TENENBAUMS is a nice showcase for Hackman but does nothing to indicate how funny the other guys can be.

MEET THE PARENTS might qualify for this list. Say what you will but there is some good Stiller/Owen Wilson stuff in that movie.

Apprently the follow up to Anchorman is going to consist of Will Ferrell as a Nascar driver for 2006, and it's going to be much in the same vein as Anchorman. I just can't wait........i'd like to see one of the guys crash their cars but do it like Star Wars with the fire in the cockpit and then they just explode in rediculous over the top fashion. I like the fact will Ferrell's character is "Ricky Bobby" and he'd rather crash then finish last, so I expect we'll see some gratuitous crashing of cars.

That Ferrell/Mckay Nascar film sounds great and an aspect of society that is overdue for some ripping. I hope they keep the title I heard for it, TALLADEGA NIGHTS.

I liked ANCHORMAN but I think OLD SCHOOL gave me higher expectations for it than I should have had. But any film that gives Fred Willard a big role, except maybe HOW HIGH, deserves big time points.

Though not a full length movie, the "SNL" Adam Mckay short "The H is O" is one of the funniest films involving these guys. It casts Ferrell as Glenn Frey and Ben Stiller as one of his biggest fans. Words cannot describe how insanely funny that situation played out.

Bottle Rocket is also missing.

I haven't seen all these films yet, but I'll have to go with Old School. It's got so many uproarious situations and great characters. Tennenbaums is good but not very funny. Dodgeball is dull when Stiller isn't onscreen. Anchorman is good but sometimes sacrfices humor for eccentricity. And Starsky and Hutch simply wasn't funny.

It's funny you should say that because I get the complete oppisite vibe. I watched him in Dodgeball and thought, this is the kind of role Murray made hilarious back in the 80's. Vaughn, however, was just dead weight in that one.

I think all those films really are pretty unfunny and crap, except Zoolander which is a work of genius. But I couldn't watch Anchorman all the way through, it was physically painful. Go figure.

So how does 40 Year-Old Virgin match up with the others....granted it's more of a spin off of the main group...

OLD SCHOOL was stunningly mediocre. I can't say I'm surprised seeing how it was from the director of ROAD TRIP, but still...

The main reason why I prefer TENENBAUMS is that it gives them (Stiller, The Wilsons) the actual chance to act, as well as be funny. Stiller has been on overkill for a while for me, but I could watch him endlessly in TRT. I suppose if I had to pick one of the actual choices, ANCHORMAN. SCHOOL OF ROCK is also a good one, although may not qualify just because it has just one of them. But what a movie.

And it's not a movie, but HEAT VISION AND JACK.

Wes Anderson movies shouldn't count, because they're a different breed altogether from the more screwball choices. What I like about these movies (especially Zoolander) is how I've seen most of them a bunch of times, but find myself laughing more and in different places every time. As for a favorite, it comes down to two shouts:

"PANDA WATCH!!!"

and "AQUALUNG!!!"
