Cheap shots

Just saw the Corman interview on the site, and thought it was a pretty good look back (and look forwards) with one of my favourite industry figures.

However, one bit really stuck out for me. This exchange seemed really out of place.

Quote:
T.T. We talked about your current projects, are you planning on doing anything for the horror channel ?

R.C. No, I'm primaraly with the Sci-Fi channel. I don't know that much about the Horror Channel. You tell me about the Horror Channel.

T.T. They were supposed to have aired Oct. 2004, other than that you know as much as I do.
Nothing too odd about it, until you get to the end of the interview and there's an ad for Horror Channel rival, Fangoria TV - which Creature Corner is affiliated with. Why ask Corman about the channel if "you know as much as I do"? Why not ask him about other horror channels, and why mention the missed launch date?

It just seemed like a cheap and underhand way of getting in a low blow on the competition - a project in which previous Corner operators Johnny and Ryan are involved. And, worst of all, using an oblivious Corman to do it.

Thoughts?

It does seem weird. If he doesn't know anything about THC, what would prompt him to ask if Corman was doing something new with them?

Creature Corner?...Who they?

Even if the question was asked in innocence (though it seems strangely specific), Corman's answer is devoid of info, adding nothing of value to the feature, and given the obvious conflict of interest between Creature Corner's Fangoria deal and The Horror Channel there's no way, editorially speaking, that pointless exchange should be left in - other than to smear the competition.

Well I'm glad the author chimed in to clear this up.

It's hard to set aside time for a little message board when you're busy reporting on the director of "one of the most notorious horror movies ever made."
Especially when you hate the message board.

That's what I like about Nick. Busy man though he might be (and busier than the man-child that runs this one) he still posts on the MB when he can (which seems almost daily).

I wonder if Dreher and his illiterate cohorts even know Nick is planning to revamp the Corner.

They'd need to read the boards/CHUD to know that and I doubt that they do.

"For those of you on the boards who hate me, sorry to tell you, I’m not going anywhere. I will still be around pissing you off with my bad grammar and even worse punctuation . We can’t leave you all with nothing to bitch about…."

Keep Annika. Ditch the rest.

Is the 'Movie of the Month' still 'Shaun of the Dead'?

Movie of the year. Represent!

Not to be confused with "One of the most anticipated horror DVD releases this year", Dead And Breakfast.
