Has anyone seen Ang Lee's homage to the Martial Arts film? I heard it was the hit of Cannes. Too bad it wont come out until this Winter.
Some of our Asian affiliates have seen it, and I believe they likee-likee'd!

Erm. Sorry 'bout that...

aww come on, pretty please?
Damn you! You used the please and comboed it with pretty.Unfair.

It was good.A lil secret, though. Its not really a martial arts movie. Its a love story. Two love stories, in fact. Dont get me wrong, though. There are lots smacking, jumping, flying and swordwork involved. Its inventive and surreal. Chow Yun Fat is way cool here. Michelle Yeoh is equally fearsome. They are the Jedis of the piece. She has a few extended fights which is quite something else.

Theres extensive wirework here.I just hope no one thinks of comparing this with The Matrix though I think it will be inevitable. There will always be one Nitwit who will think that The Matrix is the grandpapa of High Scaled Fighting.

"There will always be one Nitwit who will think that The Matrix is the grandpapa of High Scaled Fighting."

Good GOD-don't I know it. Like wires and slo-mo didn't exist before Keanu showed us THE WAY.

But you say "Ching Siu-Tung" and they all go, "Huuuuhh?"

Philestines.

Heh Heh. Philestines.

And they'd never guess he'd be quite a famous director ( at least in these here parts) not unless they hear his christian name.

But why tell?

Hey there, Castlevania-Thanks for not so much crystallizing my thoughts as just rehashing them in your own gleefully indecipherable way-You're a trendsetter!

What the hell are shit crumbs anyway?
Hey, mane4x, there's a thread in the CHUD facts for you that may illustrate the Animal Machine's point just a bit further...
Glad to know you can take a joke...I doubt that Video God's sentiment will be as well expressed as your own...

Oh, you're so right-Castleass! I DON'T want to go there again-seeing as how you gave me such a TROUNCING last time!

And hey-try advertising that law degree a little more-that makes you smarter!

Are you a practicing lawyer? 'Cause let me tell you-I wouldn't want to be represented by a guy who can't figure out where the apostrophe goes in a compound-

Try between the "n" and the "t"-not before the "n".

You have talked about how little your posts matter to you-well, honey-they mean less to me-and while I'm not speaking for everyone-I think I am!

Get thee fucked!

You're so correct.

Problem with these type of sites (new sites, that are constantly growing)

The posters who have been here a whole 6 months, get a big head and cliques get formed. Then a whole load of new people come in, and suddenly the guys who thought they were too awsome have new people to deal with.
Soo, when the board was all of 200 people ,HAM people MIGHT have dug you. I forsee when there are 2000 people, you will be considered a loser. IF YOU KEEP ON WITH YOUR KNOW IT ALL, I AM COOL attitude.
The world is moving HAM, keep up or you will get left behind.

Hell, Ive seen the small backlash start just in the last couple weeks.

Go ahead, now, come back with a good "fuck off blackchode" comment.
Sorry. I'm completely out of cool comments.

Everybody hates me.
Ham, I don't hate you man. I disagree with you once in a while but I have moved into that enlightened realm where I can disagree with someone and not defame their character. You see BlackCrowe, there will forever be cliques, it is human nature. But you can become a part of any clique if you so desire, all you have to do is share a common ground. Even if you don't want to join a clique, you can still be civil. You do not have to attack. I feel the common grounds here at CHUD are Movies and Sarcasm. If you can't take a joke, or if you feel that what something said isn't a joke, Let it go... There is too much stress in life, no body needs to come here and read the bitchfests. That is why Nick created The Ring.

McTaggart

i wanst being mean or anything , and i think HAM knows that. I find most of his post well informed. And when we disgree , I actually am entertained. I was only pointing out a fact for him to consider. Cause lately it seem people are easily agitated (as i should know, people including HAM bitch at me too))
It was only meant as something to think about as this site grows in size and membership.cause Sometimes, HAM comes off damn gruff, and he knows that. (like his "i'd knock out a pot head that messed with me" kinda talk) like all pot heads are "out of it", buts lets NOT get on that again. I'm just trying to explain. Hell, I for one love to argue, it passes the time at work!

BlackCrowe, I am unbelievably glad to hear that. And that was not directed soley at you, there are a few people that do not seem to share your enlightened view on the boards. And as for QuaterMass...

Well Chow has done Martial Arts stuff before. (Once A Thief) I dont think Martial Arts talent has much to do with acting in Hong Kong films. Look at Leslie Chueng in Bride With White Hair for example.
Most HK martial arts flicks feature stars that don't know any.
Excellent chorography and extensive doubling makes it work.

Chow knows absolutely no martial arts. But he knows the HK system-and under the masterful eye of Yuen Woo-Ping (who no one knew before the Matrix) he will look just fine.

Hey I knew him before the Matrix!
I can tell. You know your HK...

And yes, Anna did get jacked by critics and audiences. Austere, lavish, wonderfully-acted all around-and very sweet. I don't understand why that movie died.

I have a strange affinity for Peace Hotel. I'm not quite sure why to be honest.
I would say The Killer (Woo says that this is the idealized, heroic extension of Yun-Fat), Wild Search (basically a remake of Witness-good dramatic turn), or Treasure Hunt (I thnk this film is Yun-Fat just being himself-in real life-he's a big goof).

Oh-and An Autumn's Tale.

The stupid part of that critic's comment is that Chow made a career out of being a romanic lead long before touching a firearm on screen.
