The first game did some interesting things, but on the whole kinda turned into a boring game to play. The world was lifeless, the trek across the land wasn't memorable...and the ending...I still wonder what kind of fucked up movie Boll will do with such little to draw upon.
I installed the demo for the sequel this morning. Graphically, it's not all that improved or cutting edge, as PCG had led me to believe in one of their earlier previews. But man, they've fixed the things I hated about the first. Solely, npc followers that actually talk - with personalities of their own. Towns and hubs to get quests to do stuff. This will do away with the point a-b style that grew tiresome. Having automatic spells do their work by npc's is a nice touch if you can't heal yourself (or forget to). Exploring the skill system - to specialize your character - glad they borrowed from the multiple trees (like in Diablo II).
The opening cinema was impressive as well, borrowing a lot from the LOTR flicks. That and the music has returned. You can nab the demo off of the PCG dvd disc, september issue.
I'm surprised to be sitting here debating to pre-order the sucker.
