Corpses/Devil's Rejects 3?

Thread Starter
I know it probably won't happen, but would anyone be interested in a third installment of the series, following the exploits of Dr. Satan and his merry band of freaks?

Are we to make up our own minds about what happened to Dr. Satan? Did he escape and is on the run? Was he never found, and is still underground performing his twisted surgeries on people? Was he killed/captured during the police raid on the Firefly home? Or, like the Halloween Franchise (4-6), are we to ignore his part in the story and pretend that it never actually hapened?

I'm curious to know everyones opinion about what happened to Dr. Satan, and if you would be interested in seeing him on the big screen again?

Well, I certainly didn't expect a sequel to "House of a 1,000 Corpses," so why not "The Devil's Rejects."

Who knows, but I kinda figured they left DDP and Danny Trejo (bounty hunters) alive for a reason. Either a sequel or a spin off.

Yeah, the removing of the Dr. Satan element was a bit jarring. It worked making THE DEVIL'S REJECTS into a pretty cool movie, but the mythology is totally fucked.

Personally, I don't think we need another. Rob Zombie has proven to be a formidable talent, and I think he successfully put the "franchise" to rest. Resurrecting it in the wake of the second film's ending wouldn't be as cool as Zombie doing an all-new unrelated movie.

It really bugged me that he wasn't in The Devils Rejects because if you check in the IMDB it lists him as being a part of the cast. I would like there to be a sequel if just to see what happened to all them. I mean you can't tell me that the police just simply missed all of those underground caverns and tunnels.

i think devil's rejects wasnt really a sequel, per se

cause wasnt the house in a different location and such?

zombie said something about starting over completely

hell, i dont know what im talking about

to me it seemed he's gonna make a bunch of different movies w/ the same characters

similar to the El Mariachi series (which is what devil's rejects reminded me the most of)

They was it was going to be in House was Dr Satan was Grampa Hugo. It was part of a scam to get people out near the Firefly house

This sucks, 'cause I liked it more than anything else I've seen this year:

Launch Radio Networks reports: Rob Zombie's second movie as a writer and director, "The Devil's Rejects", grossed approximately $7 million over its opening weekend, good enough for No. 8 at the box office. But no matter how well "Rejects" ultimately does, Zombie told Launch that he won't be doing a sequel. "No. It ends here," he said. "I couldn't do anything with any impact if the movie ended and you felt like it set you up for another movie. That's the main thing I hate about sequels. There is no big dramatic ending, there is no climax, because they don't want to have one. The movies never end. You just lessen the impact just to protect your franchise."

"The Devil's Rejects", which opened on Friday (July 22), is itself a loose sequel to Zombie's 2003 directorial debut, "House Of 1000 Corpses".

Zombie does have other movie projects in the works, one of which is an animated film based on his comic book character, Superbeasto. Zombie is currently headlining the second stage of Ozzfest 2005, which pulls into Holmdel, New Jersey for a two-day stand on Tuesday (July 26) and Wednesday (July 27).

The rocker-turned-filmmaker has also been working on a new album, which he hopes to finish this fall and release by early 2006.

Oh, and 'Banjo & Sullivan' have an album out. It's wonderful.

Well, that's a shame about Dr. Satan. I haven't seen Devil's Rejects yet, but I saw the credits at IMDB also and was expecting at least a brief appearance by that nut.

Aside from the beginning of House, I thought that Dr. Satan's bit at the very end of the flick was one of the best things about that movie. That kid was definitely in a pretty fucked up situation.

If I remember correctly (and it's very possible that I don't), I think Rob shot some scenes with Dr. Satan for Rejects. I'm almost certain I saw some set pics and the good Dr. was in full make up on set. Not sure why he was excised but again, I seem to remember something about the DVD - either an alternate cut or deleted scenes, but I'm thinking we'll see some Dr. Satan on the DVD.

When asked if the ending of the first movie would be addressed, we were given a definite “No.” We did film all these Dr. Satan scenes, and much to Walt’s dismay we cut them. It was like you’re watching Bonnie and Clyde and all of a sudden Chewbacca shows up. He does promise that they’ll “put all that crap on the DVD.” He also said that he had no plans to make a Dr. Satan movie. What do you do with him, really? He doesn’t appear to have a mouth. Makes those dialogue scenes…well, easy to write.

Thanks for the post Annika - glad to know I'm not a rambling idiot.

I think Zombie may have cut some sort of a scene of them being killed by Wydell for pacing reasons. This is just blatant speculation based on their sudden disappearance, and on their already tenuous relationship as well as the whole thing with Wydell becomng as crazy as the people he's hunting. Think of where the scene would be, and how it would jerk the pace from the Rejects being caught to the music blasting sequence of him driving with the Rejects alone. It's already jerky, too 'cause suddenly the Unholy Two are gone.

The mythology's not fucked if you go with the assumption that the police didn't find Satan (which they can considering they cut his scenes anyway). It's plausible 'cause he is a couple of miles away from them isn't he?

Read his Onion AV Club interview. He's expressed interest in making something entirely different.

Originally that was the revelation, then Denise was thrown into the pit much the same way, only she just found Satan's creations, not Satan or the Professor. Rob changed it, I think he said on the commentary, 'cause he thought people would wanna see a real Dr. Satan. I know I did. He definitely wouldn't have worked in TDR though.

BTW El Steve-O, could you please detail the NC-17 version you have of House of 1000 Corpses? I'm curious.

Actor Matthew McGrory died at home in Los Angeles on Tuesday. He was 32. Police say the huge star, who was over seven foot tall, passed away from natural causes. McGrory became an actor after appearing on New York DJ Howard Stern's radio show in the 1990s. He starred in films including Big Fish, Men In Black II, House Of 1000 Corpses and its recent sequel, The Devil's Rejects.

I dont think Rob will want anything else to do with these two movies. From what i read Matthew was very well liked on the set. I hope on the dvd that do some sort of memorial to him.

That's really awful. Poor guy.

I'm pretty sure nobody thinks that anymore, what with all the interviews and stuff we've read and cited on this very thread.

I'm pretty sure I read that, aside from doing El Superbeasto with the creator of Spongebob, Zombie's next film is a sort of odd comedy set within a horror world. It was supposed to be his original follow-up to HO1KC, but he ended up doing Reject's first instead.

As for Dr. Satan, I believe his scenes took place in a hospital and he had indeed been captured. Grampa Hugo? I don't think he was ever referenced at all and I know that the actor who played him in House died before Rejects was even announced. I guess we'll find all of this out on the upcoming DVD.

It's real sad about Tiny, just when he was getting big (no pun intended). I met him at the Fangoria con in Burbank in May and the guy was fuckin gigantic. And he had a midget guy with him so it was really surreal.

I would LOVE to see another film with this ensemble, but it's hard with Tiny gone. Unless they CGI him or something! I bet Rob could do it because they have been groundbreaking with their incredible House of 1000 Corpses DVD and the new CD/DVD soundtrack for Devils Rejects, and the Banjo & Sullivan album.

These 2 movies are really neat. Not exactly sequels, different approaches. The first was innovative editing and sound, and then it had the freakout ending, like as if from tarantino/stone to fulci. The new one took some basic elements and mythology from the first as it may, and out comes Easy Riders Race With The Devil. I just hope if RZ makes a third one he goes all the way nuts with the Dr. Satan stuff. That would make a nice pattern

BTW I too thought the one scene with the warner bros esque wile E coyoteish FX was truly hysterical. I even thought to myself that that might be what was gonna happen, and then changed my mind about it, and then it DID happen, and somehow that made it even more funny. Then the FX shot made it fully classic

there's no way possible to have a sequel to this movie. they're all dead! rob has moved on.

the scene that he cut from the movie involving dr. satan was him in a hospital room killing a bunch of nurses. no wonder why he cut it. totally pointless.
