Movie you're most embarrassed about seeing in the cinema

I'm NOT talking about films you viewed as a 'guilty pleasure'...
I'm NOT talking about films your children dragged you to see...

I'm talking about films that you knew well in advance would be crap, but for some unknown reason, you went to see the flick anyway...and on exiting the cineplex were more worried about whether anyone you know had seen you...films you won't talk about...films that wouldn't even get a DTV nod.

Here are 3 'mild' versions of what I'm talking about,

'Jaws:The Revenge'
'Beyond the Poseidon Adventure'
'Meteor'

In all three of the above cases I made a SPECIAL EFFORT to see these on the big screen...curse my youth.

My 'all-time-worst' I can't even type, my fingers refuse to...but I'll lay bets that it beats ANYTHING you guys/gals can throw up.

...and for the record this is a Uwe Boll-free thread.

... Monsters inc? only because I was single and didn't have a kid at the time........ but I really wanted to see that star wars trailer and didn't see the need to spend the money and not see the movie...

"Feardotcom" - 'nuff said.
I have seen Judge Dredd, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, and The Bone Collector all at the theater. I listed them in order of disappointment, but they're all pretty awful.

Boogeyman
I was subjected to Clooney's nippled bat suit on the big screen where it's almost impossible to turn away. I remember softly moaning "no........"
I went and paid full ticket price to see Evolution by myself. It was...horrible.
I know what you mean about Final Fantasy. I went in expecting good things, and the best thing about being in the theater was for the Spider-Man teaser with the helicopter and the web. I just thought about that the whole time.

This may be too easy, but I went into Alien vs. Predator knowing full well it would be crap. And it was. The people I went with didn't think so, though. So I was the outcast for the rest of the night.
SHOWTIME. As soon as I knew the rating I figured it was going to be crap but I still had to see it for myself. At least Shatner made a few minutes watchable.
Wing Commander.....wow, just bad.

Anyone else see this in the theather??
It's a tie between Three Men and A Little Lady and Doc Hollywood.
I saw Suburban Commando. With Hulk Hogan. But thankfully the theater was completely empty except for my girlfriend and myself and we took advantage of that fact. Of course I'm mentally scarred now - I'm still coping with the horror that I got a hummer while staring the Hulkster in the face. You don't recover from that - not ever.

Needless to say I stopped watching wrestling after that.
Wing Commander SUCKED, saw it when I was 13.....Phantom Menace trailer was the only good thing about it...

I saw Scooby-Doo 2 in theatres, brother won passes to see it [He was 11] had to go with him.......

We saw Dawn of the Dead right after that to forget it.

I 2nd AvP. And I'll add Matrix: Revolutions.
I third AVP..........hell, I gave thought to picking up the DVD since it's 5.99 at Blockbuster, but then I remember the actual film.

3 Predators.god knows how many Aliens...........and 2 of the Predators are killed right away.....

Fucking weaksauce.
Too many to mention:

Jason X
Darkness Falls
Final Fantasy
Dude Where's My Car
Orange County
Shallow Hal

You could say I got a penchant for bad films.

You people are holding out. These are all genre films. I'm not embarrassed to watch them. I grew up watching that kind of tripe.
Let's hear what you're really ashamed of. Surely somebody here has a rom-com in their closet.
I suffered through My Blue Heaven, Bird On A Wire and Look Who's Talking in the name of teenage dating. To this day, I still subconsciously associate the act of sexual congress with slumming movie stars.

Why would anybody be embarassed to see a Pixar movie in the cinema? OK, it's not their finest work, but it's leagues ahead of most other mainstream 2001 movies.

Envy. Man, that sucked balls, especially considering the talent involved.

Oh, and Dan, this has to do with teenage dating as well. Curse the bitch and her cruel friends!!

Back when I was just old enough to start going to the movies with friends, and not my parents, I went to a double whammy of cinema cocksmack involving Police Academy 4 and Karate Kid 3.

In it's defence, the tiny local theater in question did have the Ninja Turtles arcade machine in the lobby and, four years later, would redeem itself for all time by being one of the only places in the UK to show Army of Darkness theatrically.

I have fond memories of making out during Beverly Hills Cop 2. Gilbert Gottfried and Judge Reinhold were witness to my first french kiss.

Showgirls.

Ok, I have a dick. So sue me.

The worst part was that it wasn't even effective on a prurient level.
The David Duchovny opus Return To Me.

The Christian Slater tour de force Untamed Heart.

And the Julia Roberts epic My Best Friend's Wedding.

Why would anyone be embarassed to have seen a movie?

Masters of the Universe.
Escape from L.A.
A couple of friends of mine paid for my meal and my double feature ticket.

It was a cheap rundown theater. The fee was 2 bucks and little did I know it was not airconditioned.

All that was bad but the double feature was Speed 2 and Batman and Robin.

I warned these guys these movies would be horrible but little did I know just how awful they would be. I felt like I got gangraped on a hot junk pile by 10 clowns as I left that theater.
DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS. The friend I went with and I couldn't even look at each other for weeks. We felt....tainted.
Just remembered another one: Young Einstein.
Career Opportunites
Dutch
Dr. Giggles
Opportunity Knocks
Last Action Hero
Surviving the Game

There are many more, my childhood was practically wasted watching shitty movies.
I also forgot about Young Einstein.

Anything with Van Damme in it. Double Impact comes to mind.
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. That shit actually put me to sleep.
The Cat in the Hat: /hangs head in shame/
post #37 of 128
Spice World.

Sorry kids. I win.
Julia Roberts' Something to Talk About
John Travolta's Michael

.. I wasn't exactly dragged to either movie, given that I'd heard good things from others, but there WAS a girlfriend involved. She wasn't worth it.

I saw Showgirls in the theater, and the worst part of it is...not once, but twice. Yes ladies and gentlemen, I actually paid to see Showgirls on two separate occasions.

Other embarrassments include

Alien vs. Predator (I had a free coupon)
Battlefield Earth (a friend who worked at the theater got me in for free)
Maid in Manhattan (my date figured I owed her after I dragged her to see Solaris; personally I don't think it was an even trade)
Cool World (my friend still hasn't forgiven me for that one)

There are more...but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
Ernest Goes to Camp.

ok, enough fooling around.

I saw Spice World in the theater as well, I don't consider it an embarrassment.

I also saw Batman and Robin....TWICE!

Showgirls...NUMEROUS TIMES!

Selena....TWICE!!!!

Add that to D&D, and I think I win.

Note: Let it be known that I was working at a movie theater at the time and could get free passes to any theater in Boston. So I didn't pay for most of these. D&D I did pay for. That's the real shame.
But I went to Spongebob, too.

And despite what Jeffrey Tambor says, there's no wit. It was just retarded.
I don't think you should feel so much embarrassed for seeing Spice World in the theater as just plain stupid. But hey, did I mention that I also paid to see In the Army Now? Renaissance Man? League of Extraordinary Gentleman? That Jerky Boys movie? So you see, we're all kind of stupid.

'League' didn't seem like it was going to be as terrible as it is, though.

Catwoman is the ultimate cure for insomnia. It should be prescribed for such conditions. My excuse is that the ticket was free with the purchase of Batman:TAS on dvd.
Enemy of the State. What a turd. I paid evening prices for that one. Again, not really embarrassed, just stupid. I knew better.

And romcoms and other romantic tripe shouldn't count. I personally think Untamed Heart is a piece of forgettable claptrap, but every damn one of my exes has it on her DVD shelf.

Aye, it wasn't bad but I wasn't a father then. I was in a theatre seeing a kids movie (lets face it.. thats its target audiance) surrounded by hundreds of parents and kids. Litttttle out of place
post #50 of 128
AvP
Batman and Robin
Dude, Where's My Car?
Mortal Kombat

I'm sure there's more, but it hurts thinking about this stuff.
