Movie you're most embarrassed about seeing in the cinema - Page 2

You're ashamed of Mortal Kombat? That movie was pure, cheese-filled fun!
Actually, I'm pretty ashamed about seeing Fantastic Four, come to think of it. But not Spice World. Or MKII.

No way. Watching Catwoman is worse then insomnia. Catwoman is like...like a....seriously when that "movie" is brought up in conversation (which is VERY rare), I actually can't talk. My brain can't handle the complete atrocity that was Catwoman.

Holy shit! I totally forgot. FLUBBER with Robin Williams. Must have blocked that out.
I'm ashamed to say that I went into Lost In Space thinking that it was going to be good. As it turned out, I was wrong.
I forgot the 85 minutes of pain known as DUMB AND DUMBERER. It wasn't my choice but sometimes that's not an acceptable excuse.

I'll take GIGLI for $100, Alex.

The Blair Witch Sequal

You guys remember a film starring Mena Suvari called Sugar and Spice?

It came out around '01 and was about a group of high school bankrobbers. My friend and his girlfriend (she was also special ED, he wasn't; by the way) wanted to see it and they wanted me to come along. They also paid my ticket. Seeing this film and then seeing my buddy kiss his handicapped girlfriend passionately was an awful, vomit inducing experience.

I didn't mind it as much as my wife did. My girlfriend at the time, we were both broke college students and wanted to see a movie. We went out, checked over the titles of what was on, and rather than see what we had sort-of planned to see, I convinced her that Mortal Kombat would be more fun.

Ouch. 10 years later, I still can't live it down.

The movie we had sort-of planned to see? The Usual Suspects.

I rule.

Battlefield Earth: Cavemen fly planes 2000 years old, and still fully fueled.

Beverly Hills Cop III: This was a comedy right?

Batman and Robin: Booker from Rosanne as Batman.

The Mummy Returns: I had fun until the shitty CGI Scorpion King showed up. Then I couldn't sink in my seat low enough.

Dreamcatcher: Dream story, dream cast. Nightmare of a movie. Battlefield Earth made more sense.
That pic, yeah, I paid to see Maximum Overdrive. But as far as King movies go, I'm the retard that liked Dreamcatcher but I'll pick Sleepwalkers.

Gigli, Batman Whatever, these are easy choices. Besides, I still don't think these approach the pain of a movie like Career Opportunities. Have you ever seen that movie?
I think in keeping with the spirit of the thread I'll offer up this bit of commentary (and because I like the look of my own words):
Sometimes I go see a film I know will be bad, and thus it's not that big of a disappointment or it's kitschy good (Battlefield Earth, Spice World, AvsP, any Saturday Night Live derived film), and sometimes I go to a film that I highly anticipate and it turns out to be utter shit (Batman and Robin, Johnny Mnemonic, Judge Dredd). Then sometimes I see a film I don't think I'll like and I actually wind up enjoying it (Fantastic Four, War of the Worlds), and then sometimes I go see a film I don't want to see and it winds up being the most painful experience... There have only been two films I've seen in my life that I've considered walking out of... the first was a Problem Child sequel I saw in my teenage years, and the second was Terminator 3.

I didn't just hate T3, it pained me to sit through it. It was after watching T3 that I realized I didn't like either of the previous Terminator films either, and then by extension that I didn't really like any of James Camerons films... no, not even Aliens, although it's the most tolerable of his repetoir.

Hmm... can I add True Lies to my list as well... I'd blocked it out of my memory, but when that Uzi fell down the stairs, yep, I was ready to leave.

The Mummy Returns
Wild Wild West
The Scorpion King
Tomb Raider
Van Helsing

Admittedly the last 3 I went to for the chicks (Kelly Hu, Angelina, Kate Beckinsale) but that's no excuse.

Career Opportunities ROCKED!!!!!! well... my memories of Jennifer Connelly riding the 25cent arcade horse rocked... as a whole, yeah, it was sucky but that moment so made up for the entire movie AND I saw it in theatres.

This is the winning post for making the most sense to me. I didn't see 2 of the 4 in theatres however, I saw them on DVD but I swear I walked back into Hollywood Video and demanded my money back. Dreamcatcher and BHCIII were assaults on the mind. They should be classified as a weapon that you need a permit for.

So far as Mummy Returns, totally agree. I just sat there in the threatre, screaming aloud to everyone I was with and strangers "DID THEY RUN OUT OF MONEY FOR EFFECTS!?!?!?!?"

Batman and Robin... I actually, got to see that at an early premier type of hollywood shindig deal... I felt robbed. Sure, at the time I thought the movie was great but it was due to the experience, afterwards I felt the agony. It was like a mad-cow disease filled steak... tasty to go down but then when your A1 steak sauce is gone, you realize you'll never be the same again.

I saw "Return to Me" in the theater.

More:
Escape From L.A. (I even bought the soundtrack)
Armageddon (Alone!! How fuckin pathetic?!?)

And my brother wins this one:

Instead of going to see T2 with me, he went and saw Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead ALONE.

Game. Set. Match.
Mad Love and Boys on the Side were two of Drew Barrymore's finest. Also, The Quest might have sent Van Damme running straight to video.

28 Days Later
Sin City

The former for attracting the most wonderful bunch of idiots and the latter for being a 14-year old's ridiculous wet dream.
I saw "Screwed" with Norm MacDonald...I shielded my face while exiting the theater.

"Lost in Space" cost me $1, and I wanted it back.

Caught "Van Helsing" in the theater as well....Mercifully, I actually fell asleep before it was over.

Honestly thought "Boiling point" with Wes Snipes would be good, but it was probably the most hurtful cinematic experience of my life.

I feel awful about giving "Blair Witch 2" my money, along with, Sweet Lord, "Dumb and Dumberer..."

Other people paid my way into "Problem Child" and "Superman III" and I believe this is the first time I've admitted to seeing those on the big screen.

No Holds Barred, Return of the Living Dead Part II, Revenge of the Nerds II, D.A.R.Y.L., Treasure of the Four Crowns, Pet Sematary, Hudson Hawk, Hellraiser III, Hard to Kill, Escape from the Bronx(just kidding) God the list goes on.

I don't want to start a fight, but I'm gonna call bullshit on a couple of those, Doom. You didn't see Children of the Corn 2 in the theatre, nor Garbage Pail Kids, just to name a few.

The Haunting's a good one though, I saw that one for free and still demanded my money back. Same with Urban Legend.

Movies in this thread that weren't as bad as everyone says: Doc Hollywood and Boiling Point.

Since no one in this thread has gone there yet, I proudly submit for your consideration...

Street Fighter ( As in CAPCOM, not Chiba. )

I'm glad to see that someone else got suckered by Evolution.

I went to see it with my wife, one of my buddies and his wife. We caught it at a theater in Chicago known for intense audience participation. Not for Evolution. You could have heard a pin drop through the whole movie. Every time that the the action ("action") would pause to allow for audience laughter, there was deathly silence. The rhythm of the film was so messed up that I started to think that they had mistakenly sent some kind of rough cut to the theater. And I paid full price. For two.

That movie was worth it for Raul Julia's light-up shoes.

"I can... LEVITATE!"
SLEEPWALKERS is in no way as bad as a lot of movies mentioned, GIGLI especially. Not saying it's that good, but at the end of the day its a cheap schlocky genre picture. A little different than spending hundreds of million dollars on a gay Batman movie or ruining the death of Raul Julia's career.

Oscar.

Batman and Robin.

Also when I was living in LA my friend and I watched a triple feature of crappiness(well, paid for one, snuck into 2 more) of Tomcats, Along Came a Spider, and I can't remember the third(possibly Bridgette Jones' Diary). Fuck, we were bored that day.

Balmudo, I shit u not. Back during the mid-late 80's, my father would take me to see all those b-movie/ cannon/ summer flicks like Masters of the Universe, Monster Squad etc. i was around 7 yrs old when garbage pail kids came out, pop took me to see it opening weekend since he knew i collected the trading cards. Also, my pops would ALWAYS take me to see genre pics. Every genre pic that was released, if i wanted to see it, he'd take me no questions asked. that's why there's a lot of shitty films on my list. Plus, i live in nyc. EVERYTHING played here... including Kickboxer 2. Only two films during my childhood were denied because of maternal intervention: The Fly and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3. Mom thought the fly may be a tad too intense for a 5 yr old.

BTW: u can add Blair witch 2 and Pet sematary 2
post #84 of 128
Okay, you got me. Living in Indianapolis, I just assumed some of those movies were direct to video. Until like ten years ago, we didn't even have a worthwhile art house. Having watched Children of the Corn 2 on HBO or whatever, I truly feel like you are the winner. Kickboxer 2, any movie that's has you dreaming for Van Damme truly has stink lines coming off of it.

As long as we're on sequels, how about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2- replete with Vanilla Ice cameo. Throw in the Hudson Brothers and it would've been a masterpiece.

Sometimes mother knows best.
I saw that turd in the theater as well, but I'm hardly embarrassed about it. Other great genre B flicks I saw on the big screen-
Deadly Friend
Invaders From Mars
Troll
Dead Heat
Monster Squad
Pumpkinhead
Bad Dreams
Shocker
The Blob
Trick or Treat (starring Family Tie's Skippy as a metal head)
House 2 (okay, that one is a bit embarrassing)
The Running Man

Enemy of the State isn't that bad of a film. It's a guilty pleasure, but nothing terrible.
Off the top of my head:

KING RALPH
DEUCE BIGALOW: MALE GIGOLO
THE FLINTSTONES
DEEP IMPACT
BIG DADDY
CATWOMAN (even though I saw this for free, walking in and out of the theater wasn't easy)
ALIEN VS. PREDATOR
HIDE AND SEEK

I'd say with most of those I was forced to tag along with family/friends...yeah, that's it.

I took a cab to see TAXI but decided to walk home.

God, how did the thread get this far without this stinker:

Big Top Pee Wee. . .at the dollar cinema.
A dollar that could have went to playing something at the local arcade. Instead, my brain was molested.

Young Einstein - At the time, I thought it was pretty funny when he split the atom in the toolshed. "Here's the atom, now where's that chisel..."

No Holds Barred - I wasn't even into wrestling, and I remember being so psyched to see this one. I was 8 or 9, and really stupid, but not as stupid as that movie.

Not Another Teen Movie

I literally fell asleep attempting to watch these in theaters. I knew before going in they would be bad, but I had no idea how bad. Horrible, horrible stuff. Such a waste of money. I still feel sick from the experiences even after all these years.

Ah man, Bob, u are lucky. I would' ve killed to see The blob in a theatre. I LOVE that movie. one of the most underrated modern horror (and a remake at that!) flicks ever. when that one came out summer of '88, i had a choice bwtn the blob and Willow......of course my stupid-child-ass chose Willow. But Bad Dreams? Yuck!

Oh Yeah! how can i forget this one......GET CARTER!!! (dont cry, it was free)

The same reason I see most of the horrible, groin-shredding movies I've seen in my time: morbid curiosity.

Although, I'm sad to say, I saw the two Power Rangers movies and Spiceworld because i was inexplicably a fan once upon a time.

Thunder Road and Invasion USA.

Latter was opening night. It was a packed house and it was horrendous.

Wow, I see a lot of movies I really like in this thread.

And then there's...

"Tougher Than Leather"

and

"No Holds Barred"

Urgh.
I'm too old to remember them all but 2 recent ones that left me scarred for life are

AVP
Van Helsing

I knew both would be bad, I felt silly buying a ticket, I watched anyway and my eyes have not been the same since.... " the horror... the horror..."

OH, I almost forgot the mother of all turds (pre Battlefield Earth):

Highlander II (technically it doesn't count because it was so bad I walked out 3/4 way through and didn't see the ending. Maybe I missed something, but I think saving my soul was more important).

Game over, I win!
