Alexander dvd...

Sorry couldn't find this thread if it exists already.

I liked this film a lot, and I don't understand all the shit it gets.

It's beautifully shot and lit, great gore in the battle scenes, epic rise and fall of a man in myth/history.

Some of the social commentary is heavy handed, but it mirrors the legend.

Even the child actors do a decent job, not to mention the rest of the cast, great roles all round, the legendary Sir Anthony Hopkins ties it all together.

**SPOILER**Does anyone know the name of the actor that Collin Farrel runs through with a spear later in the film, great performance by that man (Cullidus i think)?**SPOILER** Sorry.

What is the difference between the Director's cut I rented and the theatrical others saw?

How does everyone feel about this film?

Gary Stretch

I just found it on IMDB.

Great performance by this man in the film.

It had some really good parts (the battles, the set design, Rosario Dawson topless and nearly bottomless too) and horrible parts (the accents, most of the acting, the horrible script and badly judged jumps in time). Worth seeing for the final battle though. too bad it drags on for another 25 minutes or so after that.

Also, I thought the boy who played young Alexander was good too, and I liked how the scene where he tames the horse worked with the climax of the battle in India.

I am one of the three people who liked the film. The others are Oliver Stone and my dad...

I was given the director's cut DVD and I kind of enjoyed Alexander. Stone is a total cocktease with this film though. I'll check out the theatrical version soon. Wasn't Devin supposed to review the DVD?

Really? Cause I thought the first battle was the best one.

Stone's commentary was pretty good, and I didn't think it sounded like a man defeated, like Devin said some where on here.

Dude...... the elephants. Horse vs. Elephant. Elephant slicing. Elephants' dicing. Remember the elephants. An elephant never forgets. I liked both battles but the first seemed sort of... confusing. Maybe it's supposed to seem that way?
