Oh man.

I especially like the bit in the beginning of the review where he implies that the original Kong only works if your a kid who doesn't know any better.
I was wondering when someone would bring up that review. Surprised the whole thing didn't explode in my face last year. I truly know what it's like to have a monkey on my back I suppose....

I spoke with a buddy of mine who's also a Kong fanatic and who has the disc. It will be borrowed and it will be watched within the next few days. Then hopefully I'll be part of the International Kong Brotherhood.

I think that's being handled, but I'll toss up a thread somewhere with my first-timer observations or something.

Just throw them in this thread. No need to start another one about the same thing.

And my review should be up this weekend.

I finally watched it. Its like the old testament for special effects. Revolutionary stuff. As for the rest of the film, it was quite good. The guy who played Denham was excellent. And the actress who plays Ann was good too (Naomi Watts looks a lot like Faye Wray.) It seems like Ann and Jack like each other right away and that they're just going through the motions to get to the point. The relationship between Kong and everyone else was very simple (usually involved partially eating any humans,) but the director made it work. Kong is completely alien to human civilization. I was sad at the end of the film, but I wasn't anywhere near tearing up.
