Ok, I saw these while I was at C3 and by the time i got to the booth, they where sold out, to make a short story shorter, I just got my college loan money in and bought one, and hot damn it's fun as hell. Yes, I got weird looks as I had a shit eating grin on my face as I walked up to the register at Best Buy, but well, fuck'em! I was wondering if anyone else here also owns one? and if you do, what do you think?
I picked up the Anakin Ep3, just waiting to see if they make an Obi-Wan version.

How fragile/sturdy is it? And how well does it glow in a normally lit room?

it's rather sturdy, sure you can't baseball swing it into stuff, but you can wack it pretty damn good against another saber, trust me, my roommate has one also..HA I would say the blue blade stands out better then the red one in a normal lit room, but once the lights go down, they both give a very brilliant glow, kind of like the light saber fight at the end of Attack of the Clones.

If I ever have a 150 to blow on something pointless but fun it'll be a FX lightsaber.........

Sadly for now my toy Obi-Wan lightsaber will have to do.......but I am getting my college loan money, hmmm.

For the time being, only the Anakin and Darth Vader lightsabers are available. I want the gold Mace Windu version that's supposed to go on sale in the Fall. Because of the way that these things are designed, I don't think that an Obi-Wan version is possible. It looks like a straight tube running the length of the handle is required to house the electronics and batteries, so Anakin, Darth Vader and Mace's sabers work fine. Obi-Wan's lightsaber tapers to really narrow diameters at least twice along it's length, so I don't know if they can make it work.

You are right Ktak, but a man can dream, Lukes, Return of the Jedi saber looks a bit off becasue they had to make some of it thicker

My boss has had the Mace (purple) saber for months (solid tube; illuminates progressively from the hilt to the end; makes 'whooshing' noises when swung and striking noise when you hit something). A thing of beauty, but too pricey for me. She bought it on an impulse while waiting to check-out at Barnes and Noble.

talk about a impulse buy!

She's known for purchasing anything trendy/gagety that crosses her path. And money is no object.

When and if they make Count Dooku's, I might part with $100 for one of these "toys".
Aside from that, the ROTS and Clone Wars Vol. 2 DVDs will be the last money Mr. Lucas ever gets from me.

Unless they make a life-size Leia "Slave Outfit" or Aayla Secura sex-doll someday that is. Please God!

I think the RealDoll makers can do special orders. That would be the most bizarre fan object ever. Imagine if you died in an accident or something and your parents had to come and clean your apartment out, and there's good ol' blue and nude Secura laying sprawled out on the bed. One of her silicone tentacles has bite marks on it.

Or better yet, what if you died on TOP of her! Imagine the press you'd get.

I don't know what would be worse - I'm still trying to get my fiancee to put on the blue body make-up.

Bummer. I was just back in the States last week and didn't bother to look for it because the Master Replicas website said that it would be available in the fall. I guess that meant when their next shipment would arrive. Maybe I can talk my wife into carrying one of these back with her on her next flight. Does anyone know how long the box for this is?

If you haven't purchased the Clone Wars set yet than you're OK.

They're so damn tempting to own but I don't see myself buying one. I think there's cooler stuff I can spend $130 on. Like porn.

I got the Mace Windu one about 5-6 months ago and they're a blast. It was only a limited run before, that's why they say they're coming out in the fall

...I bought the Anakin FX one (wanted the Luke ESB but couldn't find it) and haven't put it down since, its just great fun...

...my friends and work colleagues all laughed and called me a geek until they held it and switched it on - then they shut up and a big shit-eating grin covers their face, and then you have to try and get them to hand it back over...

..they're sturdy enough to smack things with - wall, chairs, sith lords, nephews, etc...

...one thing i'll point out is that in the photos the Anakin saber looks like it does in the movie with the white core and blue glow, in reality the whole blade glows blue and not white, but in photos and movies it looks like it does in the movies - I've got a few pics and a vid with me using mine in the dark and it looks great, although i'm not posting them as i look like i'm taking it a bit too seriously (and we all know what happened to Star Wars Kid).

...In all a great buy...

...one thing i'd like to know is does anyone have both an FX lighsaber and its Master Replicas individual hilt? What are the quality differences??? Although the FX saber is made of metal, I'd hope that for an extra few hundred £'s that the individual hilt would be a better quality metal/finish etc...

I finally got one of the Anakin sabers in my hand today. They have them marked down to $99 at my local Hastings. The blade looks pretty cool, but the handle is very cumbersome. Hayden's acting skills my be a bit lax, but kudos for his ability to duel with this thing. I know they had stunt sabers with smaller handles for the fight scenes but damn, this thing is as awkward as hell. From what I've heard on the web, the Anakin FX handle is the same size as the static props sold by MR.

Every 5 seconds someone was picking the display model to play with. Turning is off and on, swinging it around.

Damn I want one of these silly things.

I've had the Vader one since last year. At first glance, might seem like it's harder to use, but it feels so much more natural than the awkward Anakin handle. (mostly, because the rubber part makes for an easier grip)

My coworker just picked one up for her son. They got a hold of a Luke Skywalker one; it's green. Apparently the Mace Windu (purple one) is almost impossible to find.

I can't remember where they bought it, but apparently it was only $89, so these things must be getting somewhat cheaper. I'll find out tomorrow or Tuesday where they got it if anyone's interested. For some reason I'm thinking Barnes & Noble.
