Arrested Development Season 3

Thread Starter
I just saw an ad saying Season 3 starts September 19th at 8 p.m. I can't even express how happy I am for this show to return. I hope the AD marathons Fox has been running non-stop will get more people into the show. It would be a shame to see this show on Trio's Brilliant but Cancelled.
The Friday-night marathons have made me ache for the season two DVD set. I don't know why they're releasing it on October 11th when they should probably release it before the third season premieres.

Fuck it. We're getting new episodes of Arrested Development and that's all that matters.

Yeah, I have my Season 2 DVD pre-ordered as well. It's really stupid for them not to release it before Season 3. The marathons are great, but I didn't even know they were on until recently. It would have been nice to watch the DVDs at my own leisure.

my girlfriend did not watch a single episode of season one. had no idea what the show was. i finally got her to sit down and start watching all the episodes (after we made it through all the seasons of Strangers with Candy, another overlooked gem on her behalf). All i can say is that it is a beautiful thing to come home late at night after work and have your girlfriend want to throw a pizza in the oven and sit down and watch 3 or 4 episodes. I cannot wait for season 3 to start up, but i am looking forward to the DVDs more since there are 2 episodes i missed this year.
I got the season 1 DVD box set last week from the library. I'm now kicking myself for not having seen this when it was on TV. I'm not sure if I should start watching season 3 without having seen all but one episode of season 2.
I've been a loyal viewer for a long time and I can safely say that no other show is on my must list then this show (okay maybe the Wire, but that's another story.) To those of you who haven't witnessed the brillance that is season 2, I'd say watch season 3, but tape it. Season 2 was when the show became mandatory to watch each episode 3-4 times over to get the full experience. Watch season 3, then when you finish season 2, go back and watch those season 3 episodes again and witness the show in all it's glory.

AD is the only network sitcom worth watching. Gotta love it when Gob poses for abu ghraib photos with Amy Poehler.
Just rented Season 1 on DVD. Holy shit, what an awesome show. I feel like an ass for not catching on earlier.

I'll DVR Season 3 until Season 2 comes out on DVD and I'm able to get totally caught up.

Jan 2006 -- A.D. is missing from Fox's schedule

http://www.fox.com/schedule/schedule_2006_jan.htm

I'm not sure how to take this -- but knowing Fox, it can't be good. Could they be splitting the season? Could they be waiting for some mid-season replacements to fail so they bring it back? Not sure. But I've got a bad feeling about this...
How can they jerk a great show around like this?? HUH????

crap. maybe it's too early to get upset.

wow...that is kind of alarming.

AD did get a full year's episode order, so I am guessing they are planning some sort of shenanigans for the second half of the season.

Oh fox, please don't fuck this show over before it even gets going.

Paul Feig directed the pilot for whatever it's worth, he said he was shooting it on the book tour for Superstud .

From today's Hollywood Reporter:

Quote:
Oscar winner Charlize Theron is set to add some star power to Fox's "Arrested Development" when its third season debuts next month. Theron has signed on to guest star in five episodes of the series, playing a British woman who becomes the love interest of "Development" star Jason Bateman. Theron will debut in the second "Development" episode of the season, following its Sept. 19 premiere.
That's GREAT news.
Jason Bateman is quickly becoming the Jerry Seinfeld of quality hot TV girlfriends for a lead actor. Heather Graham, ben stiller's wife, marta 1 and marta 2,

Lol, neither Bones nor Reunion are likely to survive to that point. I kind of like House on Monday..but now instead of clearing out the overcrowded Tuesday, it's completely empty.

Does any one know what the hell happened to Annyong?

Last I remember, he was sent to "go see a star war."

Anyone know?
Annyong was sent to school by Lucille I believe...but apparently he was supposed to come back if season 2 wasn't truncated.
Milford academy to be more specific, the same school Buster excelled at. I assume it would've led to a sight gag joke where they reveal Annyong had been back for a while, but was neither seen nor heard. Another reason to spite American Dad's existance for snuffing out the final episodes of AD Season 2.

ahh yes, i remember now, thanks for the reminder.

Explain to me why's this show so good people? Lately I've been checking out shows that have been getting mad hype on these boards. I'm midway through season 2 of The Wire and loving it. Arrested Development from the official site looks to me like The Royal Tennenbaums the TV show or something, am I close?

Not remotely. It is truly the best comedy in the past decade, and if you do not buy the first season DVD's you are unworthy of having a TV.
I am in total agreement. The show is indescribable, but amazing.

I had heard hype for the show a few seasons back, but never tuned in. Managed to catch part of one episode and wasn't very impressed. Last year, a friend got Season One on DVD for his birthday. None of us had ever seen the show, and the set was bought on a whim. We cracked it open and watched the first three episodes. The next day, every single one of us went out and bought the set for ourselves. Then I added it to my TiVo Season Pass.

It's that damned good. You are truly missing out if you do not watch it.

steeef nails it! I love that we can have this discussion. How would Lindsay's chicken noises be written?

You can hear audio by clicking HERE. Go to "Video" and then "Ep. 210 - Video Clip".

My guess: Chow-CHEE-Chow! Chow-CHEE-Chow!
I would go with chee-CHAH-chee-CHAH-chee-CHAH!

Arrested Development cast was completely robbed at the Emmys, but nice acceptance speech from Mitch Hurwitz.
Stupid Everyone Loves Raymond, getting sympathy votes from the Academy for it's final run.

Arrested Development [and Scrubs, for that matter] are far superior to the broad, safe, watered-down humor of Raymond.

seconded on both counts.

GOD IM EXCITED FOR TONIGHT!

. . . especially the maybe/george michael development that was left dangling over our heads all summer.

Not to mention, what is george senior gonna be up to this season?

Oh, i am so damn psyched, 8pm cant come early enough.
Couple of notes:

Steve Holt! is in the season premiere.

And in the second season (i think), when maybe is a producer in hollywood, she has a script reader come into her office and she talks about her history report, and blah blah . . . . anyway, the script reader is dustin hoffmans son, jake.

just in case anyone was curious.

I'm so happy.

Volt for Holt

Steve HOLTZ!

But yes, the funniest show on television returns in 35 minutes.

"Gob was learning life lessions all over the place."

Goddammit, it's back. Fuck yeah.

A few notes:

- Taste the happy, Michael!

- imoscar.com (it's a real site!)

- I love the repeated site gag of sitting there in fishing gear.

- "I feel kind of like the kid who found the severed hand."

- So it is Holt. Wow, I feel stupid.

- I'm gonna miss Barry. Scott Baio has a tough act to follow.

- "I made a huge tiny mistake."

- I hope they run that counter of how long Lucille's been off the medication for the whole season.

- That ending was brilliant.

I'm so glad this show is back.

Oh how I love this show. Good to have it back.

Pure awesomeness!

Michael: Why don't you find a date and go to the cabin?
Lucille: No one wants to go in that old musty clap trap.
*The look on Michael's face when he realized she wasn't talking about the cabin is priceless.*

Michael to George Michael: Why don't you get Maeby to help you pitch a tent? You could rub off on her.

*Edited to fix Lucille's quote.

Until I can watch it again later tonight, that is my favorite line from the premiere.

Also, EVE HOLT!

It's a tie between "No one wants to go in that old dusty clap trap" and "I like watching the sunset in the mirrors. It'll be closer." Classic ep. Here's hoping this new time slot serves it well.

That's it! I couldn't remember the exact phrasing. Thanks for posting it. :P

I thought it was "musty."
But that pause killed me.

I just checked my DVR. It is "musty". Best line of the show.

A couple more things I missed the first time around...

Michael: We're finally going to have our dreams come true.
George Michael: Maeby?
Michael: Definitely!

In the scenes from the next episode, Lucille and Buster arrive at the camp only to find it missing. As Lucille gets distracted by the burrito stand, the car rolls in reverse into a lake with Buster still inside the car. If you recall, earlier in the show they did a flashback of Lucille off her post partum depression meds. She was watching the news in which a mother had killed her son by driving the car in reverse into a lake, to which she responds, "Good for you." Classic.

It's that emphasis on "VolvO" that makes that line better than completely awesome. And then soon followed by, "It's too boxy." I laughed much during this episode.

Jason Bateman doesn't get the credit he deserves. Its precisely his delivery in lines like "VolvO" that makes this show so great. Of all the snubs at the Emmys this year, Jason not winning is a crying shame.

By the way, this is my desktop wallpaper:
