Welcome to last month, Matt. (not being a jerk...really)

Edit: Pod said it much nicer.

You even commented on it. :P

Yet another reason to love Scrubs. In the cover story of this month's GIANT, Neil Flynn, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, and Judy Reyes all list AD as their favorite show. That's because they have good taste.
I'm assuming people have seen that a website is reporting that a castmember of AD revealed it's going to Showtime, and soon after this was noted the E! Online girl said that it suddenly was a lot more likely AD was going to Showtime?
Supposedly, according to tvguide.com, pagesix.com, and the NY Post, Fox has officialy dropped it and Showtime picked it up for 26 episodes, not 24. I'm still waiting for official news, seeing as I was under the impression that it is up to Mitch, who has until (I believe) June 15 to renew.
Yeah, the news I'm speaking of is about the fact that it seems like Mitch's decision is/or is leaning towards going to Showtime, which was very much in doubt prior to this news.
So does that mean that ABC didn't offer anything decent? Or where they not even in the running anymore at this point?

And has everyone noticed how the new batch of sitcoms on Fox and ABC all try to mimic AD's documentary style?

Actually, the version he posted added the seal. So I like.
Holy crap, I hadn't seen the seal shooting out of there.

It needs a yellow bow tie.

The New York Post's Page Six (i.e. the gossip section) is reporting the show has been picked up by showtime for 26 episodes (two seasons).

I know that's nowhere near official, but the more positive rumors we hear, the more hopeful I'm becoming.

Sorry. Not really meaning to seem like a prick, even though it may seem that way.
no problem, i actually read the post, i just misread it as only be reported by tvguide.

sorry, and thanks for being on the ball.

Tim Goodman (TV critic for the San Francisco Chronicle) on KFOG in San Jose is reporting (01 March) that it's a done deal.
Quote:
"Everybody in the business already knows that this has been a done deal ... Showtime did pick up 'Arrested Development' for 26 episodes, two seasons at 13 each. And so it's great to see that."
Cue up the linked podcast to the 10:09 mark for his AD remarks.

Taste the happy.
I hope he's right!
So this is what the internet was invented for.

To one day bring AD to the masses who don't have cable/showtime the new episodes.

That and porn.
Its done...and once again it all came down to money again

nothing's official but it's not looking very good. hurwitz, you money whore.
Yeah, and I love the notion that a reduced episode order would be as much or more work.
fuck
Yeah, fuck that guy for wanting to make money. DOesn't he know he OWES you guys more episodes?
He does.
you wouldn't know if the guy is broke. he only signed a multi million dollar deal with fox or some other company a year ago. in one sentence hurwitz is saying he's doing everything in his power to live up to expectations of the fans and he's quitting because he can no longer deliver the quality on weekly basis for them. then in the next instance he's saying "money, money, money...i'd fuck the fans if i could, i just wanna get paid". i can respect him for wanting to move on but he's coming across like a bit of an idiot with those statements.
Oh, the tears aren't coming... the tears just aren't coming!

Disappointed? Yes. But I'm satisfied with the ending that Mitch gave us.

Tim Goodman's article regarding the demise of AD. Bateman is quoted.

My thoughts exactly.

Jason Bateman:
Everyone involved in the series benefited, Bateman said, including Fox. "At least they had a presence at the Emmys, which was new for them."
Godbless ya Bateman. As for the possibilty of a movie, does anyone think that could really work (much less even happen)? Maybe it's because I always watched the show on DVD, but I always felt that one of the reasons AD worked so well was b/c it was such a quick, rapid fire energy that I'm not sure could be carried over for 90 minutes (although you could make the argument that the series final 4 was in some ways a mini-movie, but I'm still not sold yet.)
What a shitty, shitty way to start the day.
I love how everyone is assuming that Hurwitz quit simply because HE wasn't getting enough cash. Weren't there rumors that Showtime would make them reduce the cast by cutting down the budget?

I'm glad it is ending because the show couldn't have had a better finale.

Even if it was just all about the money to Hurwitz, does that mean it was the wrong decision? No, it wasn't. I'll miss the show, but I'm not going to become some dillusional Firefly fan who thinks that every time Arrested Development comes up in an interview with anyone even remotely involved in the show means there will be a new season. Besides, Mitch has already given us more than we could even begin to ask for and so if he's ready to call it quits, then he has every right to do so. Here's hoping he finds more success in the future. Also, kudos to Jim Valley for not trying to keep the show going either.

TV immediately becomes infinitely less watchable with this news.
I'm a little late joining the AD fanclub but I've just fallen in love with the show. It's absolutely hilarious and I'm gonna start watching the season 2 episodes this week.

lucky man. Season 2 and 3 just up the ante.

Enjoy my friend, and savor the flavor while you can.

Season 3 comes to DVD, August 29th.

Wow, that's an ugly cover. It looks like Bateman has a stump for a hand as he clutches that paint roller. The cover quote is also the same as S2. Oh well, they could have a pic of Jeffery Tambor t-bagging Michael Cera and I'd still buy it.

Good call on the quote. Bad call on your photo desires.

I think the cover art is fine and it will look good on the shelf because it will be white-orange-white spines.
The colors are fine, just something about that stump and the fact that he's folding his arms and holding a paint roller while wearing a nice suit bothers me (that tie looks damn good on him I must say)
Fine cover. I just hope it's not like SeasonTwo with that horrible plastic cover that tends to slowly rip the edges to hell everytime you slip it over the box.
My guess is that the plastic cover will be white with an orange cardboard box housing the slip cases. After letting it soak in, I guess I can tolerate the cover (but I won't be sad if they change it).
Yeah, I'm trying really hard not to download any of seasons 3s episodes in wait of the DVD. I've been watching season 1 and 2 recently and god damn the tears are just a commen. Even crazier is how many times I say "come on" in my life due to this show. I'm assuming the disc set will just be 2 discs?
You are correct sir.

No, we need a Gif of both Gob and Lindsey doing each own's version.
I just finished the Season 3 DVDs. As it did throughout its run, AD kept me laughing from start to finish. It's just the funniest damn show I can remember.

Fuck man, I just reread this whole thread. What a great show. It was fun while it lasted.
Just to keep this thread where it belongs, I watched Season One last weekend, I'm doing Two this weekend and Three after that.

I absolutely forgot how great the first season was. I thoght Season Two was there they picked up their stride, but it really was a great show out of the gate.
Just read through this entire thread and was treated to this image that had me cracking up hard (it's Lindsay's expression that does it). Thank you, everyone!
