I had the opportunity to see this film in theatres and I thought that it took a lot of chances but ultimately was held back by the timeline structure as described in the review. Peet and Kutcher give solid performances but the structure is what kills the thing at the end.

Plus the, "you suck!" line from the TV spots isn't even in the film at all, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Now that was a review of this film that I can buy into, how does stuff like this get made? Aside from the obvious "studio execs have no imagination?"

The film made an attempt to stray from the usual fanfare, so I can give it respect for that. I don't think I would have rated it as low, though.

Oops, I forgot to add the point I was talking about. Editing to 4.5...

I saw this too. I think it tried really hard to imitate Linklater's "Before Sunrise/Sunset"-films. Too bad the dialogue wasn't nearly as good, the structure was weird and the soundtrack was really irritating at times. Still, I didn't hate it. It was OK. Nothing special but better than a lot of the unfunny and unromantic shit that nowadays is marketed as romantic comedies.
