I am a pleb with a pal only DVD player who lives in England. I know it can play Region 0, and Region 2 movies. I am thinking of bidding on the below item

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DEAD-OR-ALIVE-...QQcmdZViewItem

and want to know what NTSC format DVD means....

A PAL only DVD player won't play NTSC discs; need a player that does PAL-NTSC conversion.

You may be able to unlock your player.

Go to videohelp.com to check your player for codes.

Will have a search.

My player can play Region 0 so I naturally asumed it would be alright.

Will the DVD just not play or will it just have a fucked up ratio?

*this is indeed an urgemt question...sigh*

To add insult to injury, the transfer and subtitles on that disc are terrible. The film is nearly incomprehensible as a result.

FUCK

So I have a film I can't watch, which even if I could watch would be unwatchable.....

It'll play no problem. 99.9% of DVD players in the UK have NTSC downconversion.

Ah. That is good to know. Isn't there issues of frame rate?

It's all taken care of by the machine.

Thank you. Now all I have to face is the apparent lack of quality. Then again seen as I have the originally Tartan DVD copy of Dead or Alive I am predicting I will cope.

Well I have it, and it works fine.

Haven't watched it all yet but the picture quality seems no worse than some of my other Tartan DVDs....

expect another one of my 'reviews' up to be ignored within the week...
