... OK, maybe more slapstick than horror. Love it though.

Damnit. I missed this on Saturday night. Family issues. Anyway, it's a blind buy for me. Afterall, I bought Dead and Breakfast, I gotta by The Bruce.

billz, you REALLY might want to consider renting this before purchasing. I'm a big Bruce fan and I thought it was horrible.

I can believe it's not good, but I have confidence in Campbell's commentary tracks. I bought Thou Shall Not Kill, Except... for the same reason, and it's not so good.

I guess it's what you mean by "good." In terms of plot mechanics and technical acumen, it's Charlie's Angels level (the series), but it's just wonderful in its Bruce-ness and Ted Raimi is hilarious in it. There are some really funny moments. I LOLed a lot more during this than i have in a long time.

After Screaming Brain I watched "Boogeymen 2: Masters of Horror" and I have to say, the interviews with those guys -- Carpenter, Romero, del Toro, etc. -- were fantastic. But the editing gave me a headache. It was discombobulating to see shots from these classic flicks all ADD'd out. It was a cool collection of interviews though. And: narrated by a very suave-looking Bruce.

Another good one like that is The American Nightmare (2000)

I liked Screaming Brain alot better than the embarassingly low budget Alien Apocalypse. I liked how Bruce mixed in that capitalist/communist stuff, I thought thats funny cause in its own semiarchaic way it adds to the three-stooges-ish throwbackery of his Man's Man slapstick persona

Zactly. I loved the guys who rush out to steal his acid wash jeans when he crashes the moped! Here's hoping the Chin gets to make more movies like this.

Sure it wasn’t as brilliant as the Evil Dead films or Bubba Ho-tep but I’d rather spend my time with the Bruce then most films out today.

BTW, I read an interview and apparently he had a hard time directing because most of the crew and actors in the film didn’t speak English.

That's awesome. You can kind of tell in some of the scenes -- I'm thinking of the bar brawl. I think it's a better movie for the confusion and borderline hostility of the supporting cast!
