How Do I Capture Audio From DVDs?

Make me smile and tell me it's easy, using simple and free programmes. I just want to capture 10-15 sections of the audio into a .wav. I'm currently considering holding up a microphone to the speaker, which i'm just convinced isn't the most efficient method.

Please use English when answering as i am none too tech-literate. Ta!

Download Audacity, it's free and then hit record (set input to headphones or something) when the section of the movie comes up that you want to record. Then you can edit the wave. Works like a charm.

Or you can find Creative's Recorder, which lets you record anything that pipes into your computer, be it dvd, cd or website ad.

I want to rip the audio from the menu of my Apollo 13 DVD. As an easter egg of sorts, on the menu screen the entire James Horner score loops. I'd love to burn me a copy to a CD of this so I can listen to it in my car instead of having to listen to the half-assed commercial release. Anyone know how to do this in the least complicated way possible?

Wow, that Audacity is pretty damn great. Just downloaded it and tried it out. Simple as hell to use. Just play the dvd and click record on the software. Excellent stuff. This will surely come in handy. Thanks Jonathan...

does it work with videogames as well? I want to record stuff from San Andreas (DVD Game) but I don't know much about this stuff either.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I'd tried other methods before and I couldn't get them to work on the menu screen, hence my question.

Hey guys, hwo about free audio recording software. It's a sort of cheap and quick way of doing it, and it should help with what you need. The instructions here: insert your DVD on you computer's hard drive, then utilizing streaming music recorder to start recording audio. This soft will come in handy.
