I taped Jimmy Kimmel last night because Tarantino was going to be on. I watched it this morning and here are some things he discussed:

-Favorite horror movie of the 80's: THE THING

-Not a big fan of Hitchcock.

-Likes PSYCHO 2 more than PSYCHO

-Favorite movie so far this year: THE DEVIL'S REJECTS

-Is an executive producer of the upcoming film DALTRY CALHOUN. The film is directed by Katrina Bronson, daughter of Charles.

-Is now a fan of Nascar.

Well....whom among us does not love Nascar?

Honestly, the guy has the attention span of a two year old, which is why I love him, so I can't see him getting into Nascar. I can see him not being a total Hitchcock fan, though. There's a certain cold polish to Hitchcock's films which is antithetical to Tarantino's wild, messy, movies (and love of wild, messy movies.) Jackie Brownw as pretty restrained, though....

Interesting, though. I can't wait for Grindhouse. Did he mention anything about it?

No, I was hoping he'd mention something about that project. The closest he came was explaining about what a grindhouse movie was because Kimmel asked him about the film festival he puts on in Austin from time to time.

You know, I'm not the biggest Hitchcock fan either, but really, anyone who values the
Psycho sequel over the original is seriously a mental defective.

Of course, I can see Tarantino being the kind of guy who says things like that just to piss people off or be odd. I mean, the guy actually sunk money into seeing to it that Mighty Peking Man got a theatrical release. If you held any illusions that he's right in the head, that should have cleared it right up.

I heard that he's a fan of American Idol.

He was a guest judge once. You could tell he totally wanted to bang Fantasia.

I love Tarantino, and I wish he'd hurry the hell up and make Inglorious Bastards already - but how in hell could he pick Psycho 2 over the original? Oy!!!

That's like saying Woody Allen makes a better Bond than Sean Connery...ewww.

I really hope the Hitchcock and Psycho references were just Tarentino trying to piss people off and get some controversy started...something he has been known to do in the past.
I like Tarantino, but would really like him to something not rooted in genre film..like a straght drama or even a comedy...just to qualify under the Breadth requirement.

He's doing Grindhouse and Sin City II before he gets Inglorious Bastards off the ground. And who knows what else will distract him in between that time.

I think he essentially did that with JACKIE BROWN. It did have a lot of his trademark dialogue but it was different enough from his other films to show his critics that he's not just a one-trick pony.
