This is a very strange question. My fever and I are intrigued. (Said fever is on the decline but still just high enough to blame if I leave off anything important.)

My favorites from your list:

DAGON
GINGER SNAPS BACK: THE BEGINNING
NIGHTBREED
TALES FROM THE CRYPT PRESENTS: DEMON KNIGHT
WAXWORK II (hilarious! But not very good!)

That is only five. I need more tea.

Ringu 2- Far superior to the hollywood effort
Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning - An awesome movie in an awesome series
Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight- Billy Zane going nuts
A TALE OF TWO SISTERS- Awesome
THE CRIMSON RIVERS- Jean Reno, Vincent Cassel, and crucifixions
JOHN CARPENTER’S GHOSTS ON MARS- Ice Cube twatting zombies
ANGEL HEART- Just an excellent movie
LORD OF ILLUSIONS- Stupid and fun
TETSUO: THE IRON MAN- These rock more than any other movies ever
TETSUO 2: BODY HAMMER

Of that list, the ones I like are Demon Knight, Critters (just the first one), A Tale of Two Sisters, Cat's Eye, Dr. Giggles, John Carpenter's Vampires, and Lady in White. Lady in White and A Tale of Two Sisters are probably the two best movies on your list, in my opinion. Definitely seek those out.

When I read the opening post earlier today, I got a little scared--it sounds like you have to get through a certain combination of these films or something terrible will happen. To you? To me?

Anyway there's a fair measure of both good and crappy films on the list, so I'll only talk about two. First, I think that "World Apartment Horror" is a really interesting movie. I'm talking about the live action version--I think that there's an anime too. It's a great look at the underbelly of life in industrial Japan--and it has a cool pan-Asian demon too.

Nadja is also well worth seeing. It occasionally veers into the precious ("Look--there's David Lynch!"), but it's a tremendously atmospheric film. There is a real beauty and clarity to the B & W images. I think that Peter Fonda also taps into something interesting as Van Helsing, and Elina Lowensohn is equally compelling as Nadja. It's on my list of beloved pretentious indy vampire films of the 90's--"Habit" and "The Addiction" being two others.

I guess I'll be slightly more charitable (all suffering?) than Grofield. All of the above you should arguably check out to get a fully rounded view of the 80s/90s US genre scene. All have their moments in one way or another. Some, as G says, are great.

AUGUST UNDERGROUND and AUGUST UNDERGROUND MORDUM however are perhaps the most hideous crimes to creativity in recent memory. Just devoid of anything, least of all edgy horror. Avoid.

All I can do is only recommend the following ten out of the ones on your list that I have seen so far.....

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD REMAKE
DAGON
GINGER SNAPS BACK: THE BEGINNING
PET SEMETARY
THE CRITTERS SERIES (I've only seen the first two)
NIGHTBREED
THE DARK HALF
ANGEL HEART
LORD OF ILLUSIONS
MALEVOLENCE

Giles' list pretty much mirrors mine. I'd say TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2 and A TALE OF TWO SISTERS are two I'd definitely say to watch first.

These are ones I've seen and would recomend. The Critters series, or at least the first two (the only ones I've seen) are pretty fun. But there's alot on the list I haven't seen (Lady in White, Opera, Entrails of a Virgin).

SUB-SPECIES
ANGEL HEART
TETSUO: THE IRON MAN
TETSUO 2: BODY HAMMER
CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD
HOUSE
HIRUKO THE GOBLIN
TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE 2
MIMIC
RINGU 2

Out of these, the Tetsuo movies are my favorites, but these are all good films.

The Sub-Species films actually get better in the sequels, but the first is still good stuff.

in no particular order. Special note that Wishmaster would have made it if you had only included the first one.

Put Scarecrows on the list - you won't regret it. I

Of the movies on this list that I've seen

Dagon
Pet Semetary
Dead End
Demon Knight
Tale of Two Sisters
Angel Heart
Tetsuo the Iron Man
Undead
John Carpenters Vampires
Waxwork 1 & 2

While some of these movies are flawed, a couple I didin't really like, they're the ones that I felt were the most interesting. Just stay away from Tomie. Worst blind buy I ever made.

I actually rented the first TOMIE film. I was crushed that it sucked, only to see the trailers on the DVD for the next four TOMIE films, all of which looked better (and according to reviews, are). Should I be suckered in?

Also, I figured many people won't vote for the more obscure films (DEATH SPA?) so if you'd recommend one of the more esoteric titles, please state why.

I've actually always wanted to see Death Spa, but I could never find it for rent. I saw a preview for it before some other movie I rented. Looked like good, gory fun.
