I took the Eco (electric) bus to St. Helens this morning. Clean, comfortable and free.

Given the recent (massive) fuel cost rises, I'll probably be taking it a few more times.

This morning. It was a hybrid bus.

This morning to work. Free bus and MAX (that's the metro here in Portland) passes from my job.

Years ago in St. Helens we had a lunatic who would get on the bus and start haranguing people for smoking. More than once he caused a fight and had to be thrown off.

These days bus rides are far more peaceful.

I used to ride the bus all the time in Los Angeles. Since moving to Las Vegas...about 2 1/2 years ago. I locked my keys in my car like an asshole and had to take the bus to my apartment. A drunk man was hitting on a very obvious transvestite. All the other passengers just sat back and enjoyed the show. Good times.

thursday evening from work. the Mpls buses are astonishingly on time usually without fail. And they're also usually pleasant.... so long as you don't have to visit the depots. Some crazy shit goes down at the depots.

It's been almost 2 years since I rode a bus. However, since my apartment is literally right next to my college, I ride my bike every day (to work as well). I got you all beat!

Engineering works prevented me from compleating my journy by train.

Everyday to and from school I take 2 buses and a seabus which I always get there late for.

I hate the bus drivers here, some of them are nice but most of them are pathetic bastards who abuse their power by driving by/shutting the doors on old people, cram as many people as they possibly can into the bus and then repeatily tell us to move to the back despite the lack of room/air....

I really can't wait for the day when I have a car and don't have to take the bus anymore, but i'm waiting until gas prices go down

I didn't do a lot of bus riding in the UK —*is smoking on buses actually allowed? I love living in a city where smoking is not permited in most places. I would harass people for smoking on the bus.

I ride the bus a lot, the school here has cheap student passes available, so I grabbed one of those, but I probably bike more. I'm so glad that I sold my car before moving, as gas is $2.85 as of this afternoon.

I ride the bus every day to work. My job pays for a bus pass in lieu of a parking pass. I could have had a parking pass for downtown but opted for the bus instead. And now I am the smartest motherfucker on the planet!

Our transit system is pretty standard, but it gets me around during "peak" work times (between 6:00am and 9:am in the moring inbound and between 3:30pm-6:00pm ourbound) just fine. The weekend service sucks, but I don't use it all that often then, unless I am going out to a movie that the missus doesn't want to go and see. Saturday Night on a bus in Winnipeg is, to steal a British term, CHAV city central, but is never boring.

I would seriously pound the shit out of somebody for smoking on the bus.

Okay, no I wouldn't. But I sure as shit would think about it. I might even give them a dirty look. Take that, jerk!

In Durham if you ride the bus, you will probably get shot.

I wish I was making a joke but this is serious. Almost anywhere in Durham you can get shot, but riding the bus in Durham increases your chance of getting shot tremendously. For some reason the gangs in Durham don't like buses.

Sometimes in the morning I'll hop on the bus to get to the subway if I see it coming. If I don't see it I can usually get to where I need to be before the next bus so it's all good. Going home I always walk. Sometimes in the morning I'm a bit groggy. I usually get up and go in about 10 minutes so that's my excuse for the laziness.

When I was in Queens I had to take the bus to and from the subway everyday. Walking at a good clip could take anywhere form 45 minutes to an hour.

This past saturday I took a little privately owned (as far as I can tell) shuttle bus thing from Chinatown back into Brooklyn. It was strange because after the seats all filled up they gave out little plastic kiddie stools and people sat on them in the aisle. Well regulated these things are for sure.

Smoking on buses was 'banned' in the mid-eighties, I think. Unfortunately, for some time no one (the driver) was even remotely interested in enforcing the ban (who wants to risk a smack in the mouth?).

In the end the smokers quit because of increasing pressure from the passengers, who, via numerous government campaigns, were becoming increasingly aware of the dangers of second-hand smoke. Nowadays only people you don't want to mess with smoke on the buses.

Ha! Florida needs none of your efficient, well-funded and frequently used public transportation!

The last time I rode a bus I was probably in another state.

last nite. and i didn't have to wait long either, which is amazing if you know the cta.

I ride the buses and trains all the time here in chicago. i wish i had a car sometimes, cause it isn't as easy to get around here as nyc, but having a car in the city is a big hassle.

Day before yesterday.

I love riding a bus in the city because you get a chance to stare at people through the window without them noticing, it's really amazing to see little moments of people's lives as you're going past. Couples, old people, crack heads, homeless people, hippies, freaks, magicians, psychopaths, drag queens, preachers, thieves; it's hard to be bored.

The only thing I hate about buses is those days when they are so packed you have to rub shoulders with other people, then it's hard not to have an anxiety attack.

I have a choice when i travel to my girlfriend's house of either taking two relatively frequent buses or one direct bus that never, ever comes. Once i had 7 of those frequent buses go by before the bus came. I stopped getting the direct bus after that.

I have discovered, however, that if you truly in your heart say 'sod it, i'll walk' the direct bus will turn up immediately - the doors will open as you arrive at the bus stop. If you try to fool it by only pretending to say 'sod it, i'll walk' the bus will not come.

This has been proven repeatedly in experiments. Coincidence or magic buses?

9-10 years ago. You gotta have a car here in Los Angeles (well, at least I do).

Never run for the bus if there's any opportunity for the driver to pretend he's not seen you and laugh as you collapse exhausted to the ground in his mirror.

Wierd Al Yankovic's "Another One Rides the Bus" remains the ultimate comment on the joys of mass transportation.

I rode a bus 2 weeks ago. I'm using subway only for work, but I used to take buses for years. I've found out i'm still cursed.

Why the hell is the guy talking alone and/or hearing voices is sitting right beside me ???

Rode one last night to get home. Normally I walk (it's only a little less than a mile to my house from the rail station, and the bus only gets me halfway there anyway), but yesterday it was raining and I just wanted to hold off walking in the rain a little longer.

Looks like I'll be doing that again this evening the way the weather is going.
