I didn't think Anne's career was doing bad enough where she would have to pull this stunt but hell,lucky us. Now when is Mandy Moore going to give up the good girl act too?

Interestingly enough, Mandy Moore was cast in the same role before Anne Hathaway. I'm curious as to how she would've handled it, since I had put Anne Hathaway down as a 'never', thinking she'd go the Disney DTV route or something equivalent, like the Olson twins.

I hope this doesn't ruin Anne's career but I don't think it looks good for her. I doubt Disney will want anything to do with her anymore. It's a shame, Anne seemed like such a sweety.

Hathaway actually completed production on this film back in late 2003, just before she started filming The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.

Here's some history on the ever-changing cast from Yahoo Movies:

I should note however, that with Moore signed on to star in Warner Bros' Chasing Liberty, which starts filming in May, it looks like either this film will have to be rescheduled or Moore may have dropped out of talks for the lead like Bosworth before her.

Back in 1995, when this project was set up at New Line Cinema as 'Powers That Be', the top three candidates for the male *teenage* lead of Toby (AKA "Havoc") were Stephen Dorff, Ethan Hawke and Christian Slater, but obviously eight years of aging since then has taken all of them out of consideration. At 33 and 32, for example, Slater and Hawke are nearly old enough at this point to play the *dads* of teenagers. (3/30/03) I've received word that both Moore and Malone are now signed, with filming pushed back a bit to allow Moore time to star in Chasing Liberty.

(10/8/03) This movie's cast has taken another drastic swerve with the news that Jena Malone and Mandy Moore have been replaced by Anne Hathaway and Bijou Phillips. Hathaway is particularly big news as this movie marks a drastic departure from the squeaky-clean material she's done thus far.
Also, some interesting news on the film's original screenwriter:

Stephen Gaghan's script is an adaptation of a screenplay called "Powers That Be" that made a lot of headlines when it was sold to New Line Cinema way back in 1995, because it earned 17-year-old high school (Crossroads School in Santa Monica, CA) student Jessica Kaplan a $150,000 paycheck. Kaplan went on to write the script for 2000's The Dancer. Kaplan's story of being a high school student who wrote her own script which is becoming an actual feature film is similar to Thirteen, except in that case, screenwriter Nikki Reed actually ended up starring in the movie as well (just a year after the events that inspired it). Stephen Gaghan was hired to do a rewrite of Kaplan's script while this project was still in development at New Line Cinema (which at the time was his first feature screenwriting job).

(6/15/03) I actually received this news several days ago, but I felt it would be best to wait a bit out of respect for the family. Here's some sad news. You may have heard about a small-engine airplane that crashed into an apartment building in the Fairfax district of Los Angeles on June 6th, 2003. Well, one of those killed in the crash was 24-year-old Jessica Kaplan, who wrote the script as a teenager that got this project going. She was flying with her uncle to the family's second home in Idaho, and had just taken off moments before their crash, killing all aboard. Her body was identified on June 8th as the fifth victim of the tragedy.

Yeah. She'll be fine. She has two big movies coming up- Brokeback Mountain (which is getting a lot of Oscar buzz) and The Devil Wears Prada, based on the best-selling book.

She'll also be portraying Jane Austin in a biopic about her life.

The pics were alright, and she wasn't too bad, but not as impressive as i would have hoped for. Just to clarify i have no idea what i was hoping for, i think something more of her being in the Princess Diaries and being naked. That would have done something for me in a very primal young urge Disny sort of way. And Julie Andrews. don't even get me started...

These sites should've just put them in that format to begin with, instead of that freaking massive image size they all seem to like so much. Also, what would Tyler Durden do still has all the shots up plus a couple three extra that I think explain a little bit more about the context of the scene, if anyone gives a crap.

But really, my interest is piqued from the reviews I've read, which seem to be all love or all hate, half calling it the new Showgirls and half making allusions to Thirteen.
