Biopic Casting 2005

Thread Starter
Inspired by the "Recast Your Favorite Movie for ____" threads and the uproar over Mike Myers possibly playing Keith Moon, use this thread to cast your biopics. I'll take a crack at the Keith Moon one:

Keith Moon - Jason Schwartzman

Roger Daltrey - Matthew McConneghey

Pete Townshend - Rhys Ifans

John Entwistle - Edward Norton

Booker T Washington - Dennis Haysbert

Paul Revere - Jack Black

They called me mad for that one.

Andrew Carnegie - Richard Attenborough

Also:

Nero - Chris Penn

The resemblance is almost horrific.

In Several Parts:

FRAGMENTS OF THE DAY
Directed by Sam Mendes

During the writing and production of 1984’s ‘Sunday in the Park with George,’ Stephen Sondheim remembers key moments in his life and career.

(In Order of Appearance)

Stephen Sondheim-Peter Sarsgaard
Musical Genius

Mandy Patinkin-Jake Gyllenhaal
Star of ‘Sunday in the Park with George’

Bernadette Peters-Tammy Blanchard
Star of ‘Sunday in the Park’

James Lapine-Clark Gregg
Co-Writer and Director of ‘Sunday in the Park’

Dominick Dunne-Philip Seymour Hoffman
One of Sondheim’s closest friends

Janet “Foxy” Sondheim-Jennifer Jason Leigh
Sondheim’s abusive, controlling mother

No picture of Mrs. Sondheim was available on the 'net, however, Leigh is great at playing crazy, controlling women, and the few pictures I've seen of Mrs. Sondheim reminded me of Leigh.

Young Sondheim would be played by an unknown actor.

"Fragments of the Day" Continued:

Oscar Hammerstein II-Tom Hanks
A musical legend for ‘Oklahoma!’, ‘South Pacific,’ and others. The key influence on Sondheim’s life and career, one of his earliest teachers and a powerful father figure

Milton Babbitt-Paul Giamatti
Another one of Sondheim’s teachers and electronic music pioneer, influenced Sondheim’s use of a consistent tone.

I couldn’t find a photo of Babbitt in the appropriate age-range, but Giamatti looks like he’d be right(late thirties-early 40s)

Leonard Bernstein-Josh Charles
Legendary American composer who clashes with Sondheim on ‘West Side Story’

Jerome Robbins-Stanley Tucci
Relentless perfectionist, director, and choreographer of ‘West Side Story’

The epic 'Fragments of the Day' continued:

Ethel Merman-Brenda Blethyn
The domineering star of ‘Gypsy’ and Broadway legend.

Larry Gelbart-David Krumholtz
Co-Writer on ‘A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum,’ creator of 'M*A*S*H*', becomes one of Sondheim’s closest confidants.

No picture from the appropriate time period was available, however, a group shot from Gelbart’s Sid Caesar days reminds me of Krumholtz. Alternate casting: Seth Rogan

Angela Lansbury-Cara Seymour
Star of ‘Anyone Can Whistle’ and ‘Sweeney Todd’

Lee Remick-Samantha Morton
The beautiful, troubled star of ‘Anyone Can Whistle,’ in love with Sondheim

Hal Prince-Neil Patrick Harris
Director of the many classic Sondheim shows, including ‘Company,’ ‘Follies,’ and ‘Sweeney Todd’ (Center of Photo)

And the stunning conclusion to 'Fragments of the Day':

Michael Bennett-Wes Bentley
Choreographer on ‘Company,’ and ‘Follies,’ later goes on to direct the revolutionary ‘A Chorus Line’

Glynis Johns-Julie Walters
British star of ‘A Little Night Music,’ first sings Sondheim’s most-well-known song, “Send In The Clowns”

Once again, the only picture I have of Johns in ‘A Little Night Music’ is from my own collection. Walters looks like a good fit.

Len Cariou-Liev Schreiber
One of the stars in ‘A Little Night Music,’ it is he who goes on to originate Sondheim’s most frightening role—Sweeney Todd!

No picture here, either. Damn.

AND

Zero Mostel-Nathan Lane
The domineering tornado who battles with Sondheim on the early ‘A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum’

Colin Farrell as Kevin Federline in DOUCHEBAG CONFIDENTIAL.

Steve Buscemi as Ayn Rand
