2005 NHL Season - Page 4

So are Jasper and Whyte still standing?
Augh! Tabernac!

Oh well. Congratulations to Carolina. See you next season.
Well done Carolina, and congrats to all the fans. I predicted Edmonton to win it weeks ago & they did well to take it this far. I envy all you 'canes fans tonight, just a shame it has to end on a Monday. Still, you've got a great excuse for being late to work tomorrow!!

Say what you want about the ratings, the appeal of the game, and the management of the league, no sports trophy brings more joy to those who win it than the Stanley Cup. You simply don't see what's going on right now in the NFL, the NBA, or MLB.
Absolutely. A great freakin' series, and one hell of a game.

Whyte Ave is a bit of a mess... The pub I was in was the picture of sadness... It was a hell of an underdog fight, but congrats Canes, well fought victory.

I'll agree with that at the club level. I will always think the FIFA World Cup is the most important to more people everywhere though. But I'll say this, the Stanley Cup is probably the best looking trophy out there, and with a lot of history. My wife & I often wonder how tall it can get before they have to make a new one!

Killer game, makes you wish Edmonton had Roloson, didn't bobble the puck in Game 1 to give the Canes the easy victory, ut it's a lot of what if's, every 2nd place team is built out of what if's.

Would've been awesome to see it go into Overtime.

Oh well, one day a Canadian team will claim the prize, just hope it's not the Leafs.
What I hate is that there is no hockey now until October. That's a big void to fill. I will have to be honest though, after watching the Stars play so well all season then collapse in the play-offs the way they did has left me more than a little disillusioned. You know, you cheer for your team for so long but when it really matters they just roll over & die, that leaves a bitter taste.

I'm sure I'll do it again next year but part of me will wonder if they can cut it or not. That's not good.
What an awesome game. Canes finally skated like they wanted the freakin' cup and won it.

Most importantly congrats to Wesley and Brind'Amour.

Awesome. Now I gotta find me a T-shirt.

Well, there's at least a dozen players on the 'Canes who were born in Canada, if that's any consolation.

Could always be worse. You could be a Blackhawks fan like me.

Congrats to you 'Canes fans. Great series, awesome game seven.
Yup, great game. A part of me wanted the Oilers to win if only because they fought to the end after losing the serie 3-1. We all thought it was the end.

But then again, if a team defeats my Canadiens, it better wins the Cup. And Cam Ward was simply awesome since he appeared out of nowhere to beat the Montreal all by himself and imposed himself as a first class goalie since then. Jussi Markkanen, which I knew fuck nothing, did a great job as replacement for Roloson.

Congrat's to the Canes.
Markkanen deserves props too as a great goalie.

If he doesnt get more playing time next year.. I'm sure there are a lot of teams that would like to get him if he isn't under contract.

What a spectacular end to, in my opinion, the best season the National Hockey League has to offer. I was pulling for either team, for the first time I can remember. The Hurricanse definitely deserved the win. Seeing Cole on the ice felt good. Witnessing Rod Brind'Amour hoisting the Chalice of Champions gave me goosbumps too.

I'd like to say I feel sorry for the Oilers, but what is there to feel sorry about? They played hard and flew past ANYONE's expectations going into the playoffs. They got some much needed experience that will most likely help them in their quest next year. I guess the best part about the 2006 Stanley Cup playoffs is that no matter where you seed, you have a chance. The Oilers proved that, and Canada loves ya, guys!.

Here is to the best season ever, here is to one of the best post seasons ever, and here is to many many more in the newly and properly restructured National Hockey League.

It's back, baby. Better than ever.

Cam Ward was born and raised in Sherwood Park, ten minutes from Edmonton, same with Mike Commodore. Apparantly Cam is even moving back to the Park soon.

I'm not sure you guys will be able to see these.. but here is a link to a gallery I made of the Carolina Hurricanes Parade we went to yesterday.

Ah, once you've gone to four or five of those things they all start to look alike.

Its worth flipping through for the photo of Eric Staal and his fiance. She's quite a Looker.

Its also worth seeing Commodore riding with a Beer in his hand. That picture alone has made my desktop.

I also like that a got a pic of Hedican and Yamaguchi riding in a truck!

Is that you with the baby carrier, neaux?

yes.. We're grooming the boy to be a goalie. We even got a styrofoam hockey puck at the parade. Yay!

and yes the boy is slowly breaking my back.

Nice family there. I took my new ladyfriend up to visit the family in Salisbury over the weekend, and we watched the disastrous game 6 at my sister's house. My sister has now forbidden me to ever visit North Carolina again during Hurricane's playoffs...
Wow...

Canucks just traded Bertuzzi, Bryan Allen and Alex Auld for Roberto Luongo, some D-man I've never heard of, and a sixth round pick. I would imagine that Cloutier then will be gone by the end of the draft tomorrow too.

I figured they'd do something, but nothing this big....

Huzzah! the Devs locked up elias and Langenbrunner in a 24 hour span, glorious news. Now lets get us a New Defensman and get this season started

Looks like the Stars are gonna sign some good players for next season. At least I hope they will after saying goodbye to Guerin, Arnott, Hedberg & Mitchell!

Oh, we got Sydor back. Good guy, I hope we haven't missed the best of him though.

Pronger traded to the Ducks for Lupol and several high-end draft picks. This is a total coup for the Ducks. With Pronger and Niedermayer on the point they're looking like the early favorites in the West. I hate seeing Pronger in the Pacific Division.

Blake back to the Kings is awesome. They better give him the C. Sorry Mattias.

Hurricanes are trying to keep most of their line-up

Cole Signs

So with Eric Cole, Eric Staal, Brind 'amour, Williams, Wallin, Craig Adams, and Commodore resigned.. and keeping Cam Ward as goalie.. they have most of the team back.

We did lose Aaron Ward to the rangers though.
Baumgartner, Marty Murray and R.J. Umberger all signed for next year.....watch out league, here come the Flyers
post #183 of 187
Georges Laraque traded.

Wow. The Islanders fire GM Neil Smith and hire Garth Snow to be the new GM. They have lost their fucking minds. This is one of the wackiest organizations ever. The list of their major executives reads like a old timers game list. Trottier, LaFontaine, etc. Now Snow retires and goes from backup goalie to GM. I am glad I am not an Islander fan right now.
The islanders are terrible and this is an unbelievable move. however i am more concerned with the idea that scott gomez might not be a devil next season. One of our key components. damn that would hurt
post #186 of 187
F the Devils. They celebrate winning the Stanley Cup in the damn parking lot.
