2005 NHL Season - Page 2

the guys on the sabres radio should be fired for not giving their team enough credit. i don't know if it's american analysts that know fuck all about hockey or not but up here in canada everybody (the ottawa senators included) knew the sabres were going to be a tough team because 1) it's common sense not to underestimate a team with 110 points (5th best in the nhl) in the regular season. they weren't some 7th or 8th seed that just got into the playoffs with 85 points 2) the sabres can match the sens speed probably better then anyone else in the league and 3) ray emery sucks. the playoffs is all about goaltending.
I honestly didnt see much of the Sabres this season but after some of the spankings they laif on the Flyers how could anyone underestimate them. Devils biggest game of the season tonight! And i dont get OLN, its utterly absurd to not be able to watch the team i watched all goddamn season playing in an elimination game
post #53 of 187
Edmonton took a huge dump on the Sharks the other day, 6-3. Gawdamn.
Well the devils came out with momentum and then...well they basically folded up camp and said "wait til next year" it hurt to have the false hope of a quick first goal. Carolina thoroughly thrashed them in the next 2 periods, hard to watch. Carolina/Buffalo should be an exciting series, i am thinkin it will go 7.
Well the Canes wrapped it up last night with a great win. NJ really kicked our ass on Saturday but really didnt come to play yesterday.

I cant believe we have to wait until this Saturday for the first Carolina/Buffalo game. Damn NBC. Their coverage sucks bad too.

You won't get any such complaints out of me, nor the Sabres' radio crew or anybody who's been following the NHL all year.

They (and I) are talking more the Sens themselves than any of the media outlets. In Bryan Murray's postgame press conference, he expressed disbelief that it was Jason Pominville who made Alfredsson look silly.

I don't know if any more of this stuff's available online, but Murray definitely made it sound like they were expecting the same team that got crushed the first few times these teams met. Being nonchalant about matching lines in comparison with Lindy Ruff talking about a game plan. Saying stuff like 'we made Miller look like a good goalie' after he stole game 2. Aw hell, why don't I let a Sabres fan's blog speak for me.

Too bad I have to work Saturday. Dammit.

well usually when you outshoot your opponent by a 3 to 1 ratio and lose the game the opposing goalie stole the game. so it's mearly fact. the jason pominville comment is a pretty valid statement. you're not expecting to lose the game in ot when you're on the powerplay. it's like if randy moss is on the field you expect him to beat you, not courtney anderson. it's more that they were overlooking a half crap player, not the entire team. on top of everything they were speaking out in frustration. they just blew another playoff series for about the 7th straight season.
OK Edmonton, now please get rid of the bloody Ducks!

As long as they don't get it I don't mind who wins the Cup.
Once again, Edmonton is going nuts. Take that you Canadian anthem booing sons a bitches!
Must be nice. I was hoping to spend way more time cheering for the Stars but how was I to know they'd forget to show up?

Well done Edmonton, now pleeeaasee kick the Ducks out!

why all the hate for the Ducks? I am not their hugest fan or anything, but they are just another team in a sea of teams. They don't have guys on the club who are cocks, they work hard, they are one of the best organizations in the league, and they have been quite successful in the last few years. Where is this all coming from? The fact they are named after a Disney movie? Fuck, thats old freaking news. They are even changing their name next season to distance themselves from that.
I suppose my dislike of the Ducks goes back a couple of years before they clamped down on goaltenders kit. Giguerre looked like the Michelin man with his huge leg pads. It was the only thing that made him such a "good" goalie.

Where is he now?

Apart from that, I just think they've been lucky to get so far. They're not that good, and Edmonton will realise that.

If I'm going to stick my neck out I'll say Edmonton will win the Cup this year. I just feel they can do it.
Edmonton wins the first of the Ducks/Oilers series, 3-1.

We're going all the way.
well it was a hard loss to Buffalo on Saturday. I'm really hoping that the Canes get their act together tonight (they didn't play bad on sat but I know they can play better)

If they win tonight, I'm thinking this will be a 7 game series.
well.. I"m glad the series is tied now.

Canes need to take one in Buffalo.
I was startting to worry a bit in the third period, but they pulled it out.
Edmonton is going to the finals! WOO! (Yes I know it's only the third game right now but still!)
Ummm, I hope. Roloson seems to be falling apart all at once... Come on Roll ee!
What a mess that third period was.
It was the most entertaining mess of the entire series. Roloson looked about ready to pass out.
Yeah, I agree, it was entertaining but damn.... all hell just broke loose in a matter of minutes.
Watching Game 4 right now and I love how it went from a severely officiated game to being an end to end free for all.
Ahhhh shit.
There was me thinking another sweep was on the cards.
wow.. I cant believe them Ducks.

good for them. Its a shame they'll lose tomorrow.

Let's hope the Canes even up their series tonight!

the Canes played flawlessly last night. God if they played this well every game they would be unbeatable. Hurray Gerber!
Yeah, that was one helluva performance last night. Let's hope they can keep the momentum in their favor.
Yyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!
I find myself liking tonight's result very much indeed. Sorry to Carolina & Buffalo fans but I still think this is Edmonton's year & I'll be rooting for them.
Holy Rolie, What A Goalie!
Alright Hurricanes. God, last night's game was a true nail biter.

This time Cam Ward stepped up and had some killer saves. Hurricanes now have the lead 3-2 in this series but I'm not sure if they will win in Buffalo. I sure hope they do though.

Ward did the same tonight, but the winning goal was oogly. (Not that I'm really complaining...) Without his play, the game's over by the end of the first.

Jeez, if you'd asked me in September if the Sabres would be playing on June 1 for the right to go to the Finals, I would have laughed... this has been great fun.

I just hope that I can survive a Game 7. (The Sabres' history hasn't been kind, and if memory serves, the Canes haven't played one since they moved from Hartford.)
well many analysists said this would be a 7 game series and they were right.

Last night was a good game and a sad loss. Dougie Weight blamed the loss on his penalty.

I hope the Canes get their act together for game 7. They really played like crap. Only Cam Ward stepped up.
Yeah, very disappointing performance from the Canes, almost seemed willfully lazy at times. But at the risk of seeming like one of "those" guys, that overtime penalty was complete bullshit.
I'm still gonna say Edmonton for the Cup.
My God, they call that a deflection for the 'Canes goal? That was a fucking trick shot!
Its weird that even when the Hurricanes were down 2-1 going into the third that I wasn't that concerned. The Canes play their best in the third period and they proved that theory last night.

New York played extremely well this series, especially with the amount of teammates they had injured.

Go Canes! Kick the shit out of Edmonton in the finals!
Erm, not gonna happen.
OH SCREW OFF CANES! Thanks for knocking Rollie out of the series.
No. Thank you for taking out your own goalie.

You guys played better hockey for 2 periods and then gave us the win by killing your own goalie and putting in a new one that like to hang out behind the net.

We'll take what we can get!

Seriously, last night's game was completely stupid.
Carolina played like complete idiots for 2 periods and gave up 2 goals that the Oilers should have never scored.
A penalty shot and a deflected goal.

Edmonton decided not to be outdone and started acting stupid themselves. Why push one of Carolina's biggest players into their own net and kill the knee of your best goalie?
Edmonton's new goalie then gets crushed with a behind the goal mishap that will probably get played ad nauseum as one of ESPN's NOT SO GREAT PLAYS OF THE WEEK.

Go Canes!
That was the Canes fault for slamming into Rolie. Doesn't matter if he got nudged, he did a swam dive towards Rolie first anyways.
"Nudged"? You're nuts.
Well, unless the Oilers take out Brind'amour, Carolina is winning this serie in 5 or less. Roloson was a major factor in Edmonton's performance in these series.
Edmonton shoots itself in the foot an awful lot. If they don't beat themselves, the Cup is theirs.
'Canes in four. Sadly.
If the Canes win on Wednesday, I'm predicting/hoping they win in it 5.
Yeah, I'm not letting myself get too hopeful just yet. Edmonton's not going anywhere without a fight.
Oh yes we are. Without Rolie this is done fast. Unless the demi god of a man Cam Ward is taken out of net, we're boned. I'm thinking, an unfortunate accident...

what an optimistic fan you are domingo. stop watching the finals if you're gonna be a little bitch because a career backup goalie is injured. people already seem to have forgotten that ward was only pulled a couple of games ago for playing crappy. rolie wasn't the main reason the oilers have gotten this far either. he's played good but he's been no patrick roy. the oilers have been getting outshot in most of the games this post season but unlike most teams they're actually finding ways to score. it helps when you're blocking about 30 shots a night too.
