Shane Black questions?

I have a phoner with him. Any burning questions?

Since he's arguably the finest exponent of the genre, how does he go about constructing a "buddy movie"? Does he start with the characters and let the plot flow from them, or the other way around?

What's his favourite one-liner from a) his own movies b) other people's movies?

Has he ever used his Predator pussy jokes in real life, or even to get a little pussy himself?

What's next?
And what actors did he originally have in mind for the Harry/Perry characters?

Oh and if WB came to him and said "We want to make Lethal Weapon 5 (Sadly, I could see this happening). You can kill Riggs this time.", would he do it?

Will you punch Devin in the tits?

And throw Iced Coffee at him? Through the phone?

What is his secret to writing films that not only have a shelf life but are just as good ten years down the line if not better than when they were released?

How damaging was the public aspect of what he earned for Long Kiss Goodnight in his career and focus at the time?

Is Sonny Landham crazier than a shithouse rat?

Shane's style was the defining influence on a genre of movies that were notoriously violent, pro-gun, pro-vigilante justice, vaguely misogynistic and just generally right wing - does he agree with this interpretation, does he agree with the politics of the time, does he think the films had any politics at all?

It's cool to re-interpret 80's action films as massively homo-erotic. What does he think?

Has he ever eaten live monkey brains?

It's apparent that Shane Black has been influenced by the classic private eye characters of the 1930s and 1940s. What appeals to him about that particular genre? All-time favorite fictional private detective and why?

This went really well and Shane didn't seem too psyched to be asked what his favorite one-liner was.

Did he invite you to his GIANT MANSION? There was a pretty good article about him in Rolling Stone this month. Among other things, Shane said sometimes he'll wake up and find people he doesn't even know sleeping in his mansion.
