NBC ads

I just wanted to vent here really quick. I guess this is the best place to put this, so here it is.

NBC has ads on the radio (and maybe even on tv, not sure) to advertise their shows this season. They're set up like three or so friends talking about how these shows are coming on and how cool they are and all that. They seem to have started as a way to pimp out their new shows, to kinda make it seem like there was early buzz on them or something. But now there's like a new ad everyday it seems with these same people talking about the shows coming up tonight and how/why they're so good etc etc.

The "idea" makes sense to me. they can promote a block of shows in one spot, one after another, saving them from having the need to have different ads for different shows, and possibly saving them money in advertising costs.

But the thing is... they're just sooooo annoying!!! They set up hypothetical things, the people wonder aloud about stuff, they priase this and they praise that. Gush. Praise. Ass. Kiss... They derive me nuts. They're so obnoxious. And worst of all is it's all so FAKE. These people know exactly what they're talking about and what they're doing. It would be different if it were some independent group promoting the shows they like, but it's NBC promoting themselves (which is fine) and it STINKS!!! It's horrible. And did I mention annoying?

Blood... boiling. Ok, I'm done. Just had to get that out. I can't be the only one who finds these ads annoying. I listen to the radio in the morning and I hear them all the time. Argh!

These ads run on FOX News Radio all the time. I find that fact pretty funny most of the time.

The ads are a good gimmick, but it will grow old very quick.

Holy shit. Okay. That explains it.

See, I'm relocating to Dallas since my home town is kind of unliveable right now. When I drive around I scan the dial and there is absolutely nothing good on. But the worst was what I thought was some morning talk show group going on about how good some show was supposed to be and I was just floored at how obvious and awful it was. All I could do was change the station and wonder who the hell listens to that crap. Now I know it was actually a commercial.

I haven't heard the ads, but if they are as bad as NBC's primetime line-up ("The Office" excluded) then they must be awful.

The fake DJs on the ads I've heard are no more annoying than the actual DJs on the stations I've heard them on.

Which is to say that they're highly annoying, but not out of place.

My favorite one so far was played the day before the "My Name is Earl" premiere, and contained the line, "Wait. It's on NBC, and it's funny?"

Yup, they're pretty awful. There was one of them talking about Will and Grace (I think - tried to block it out) and I could have sworn one of the people in there said some sometihng , in between all the gushing praise, like "it's the last 'great' comedy on tv right now". I wanted to explode. Besides being obnoxious it gave the impression as though NBC were trying to dicount its other comedies as well the other networks', whis is a silly thing to do since some of the other NBC comedies were int the ads as well. I want those people to leave me alone. I can't handle new ads everyday.

Playing incessantly on Detroit's best morning drive team's radio show (shout out for "Drew and Mike"). Worst part is the half-ass jokes they make betwixt the lame kiss ups to the show. Some ad agency needs to burn in hell.

NBC is joing "Old Navy" in the category of companies that I refuse to use their products/services because I can't stand the comercials. They've managed to sink lower than companies that uses Car Horns or Sirens in their radio ads (always nice when you're driving).

I concur that these ads thoroughly awful.
Why would anyone want to emulate bad radio patter?

I guarentee you that the station managers running the ads with good DJs rest their head in their hands everytime these are on.

"You know those ads where two people with horribly annoying voices yammer back and forth? I invented those."

*Homer punches ad exec*

"Happens all the time."

Sounds like someone needs a bullet to the face!

Those damn ads are back... and they're as annoying as ever. Sounds like it might be three different people though, but I may be wrong. Still 2 guys and a girl. I'm sitting at work and I've heard 2 of them in the span of what seems like 5 minutes. They're all about the monday shows today and each ad talks about all three shows (Surface, Las Vegas and Medium) but one ad wasn't good enough. No, the 2 I've heard so close together on the radio were slight variations on each other. One focused a TINY bit more on Surface then the next on Vegas. These people laugh at everything they themselves say. I've ruptured my right eyeball from banging my face on the table already and I'll be listening to the radio for a few more hours. Argh!

I think the idea might be to try and cleverly slip them in as ads without you really thinking about the ad content itself, especially when you're listening to something as banal as morning talk radio, as I've been known to do. 'Not bad enough to be hilarious, not good enough to work as they want it to' is my assessment.

Heard this ad this morning. It sucks. The best is that it's during our morning political talk radio show with a guy that sounds -nothing- like any of those three, so it's horribly out of place already.

I think the ads may be a ploy to get people to stop listening to the radio, and do something constructive with their time, like say... watch TV! And while you're glued to the tube, there's a chance you might switch to NBC at some point.

I rarely listen to the radio anymore, and when I do it's usually just long enough to pop another CD in, but boy am I glad I haven't heard them. Those "people talking and being 'clever' and 'funny'" ads get under my skin anyway...

Now CBS is doing it. I just heard and ad with 2 guys talking about CSI and the Miami-NY crossover. I guess this kind of advertising is a new trend. I hope it dies quickly. At least the CBS ad isn't full on watercooler discussion yet. It went from the two dudes talking to 'announcer guy' doing his thing to a bit for another show that played like a regular commercial with sound bites and all. It was a friggin' mish mash.

XM or Sirius. Either one eliminates the problem.

Goddamn, I hate these commercials. Still, they're less annoying than the Greaseman Show.
