The World Stunt Awards

They still don't have their own catagory at the Oscars so until then stuntmen at least have the World Stunt Awards. The event is going to be broadcast this Thursday at 8PM on E! (I can't believe I typed the exclamation point after the "E").

The ceremony will be hosted by the Rock and both Quentin Tarantino and Sylvester Stallone are receiving honarary awards. In addition, Vic Armstrong is getting the Lifetime Achievment award. Odds are you've seen his name on the credits for films often but among other things he has been the stunt double for both Superman and Indiana Jones. Bout time, this is actually more important than people presently realize, sometimes believable stunts turn the tide in a movie you may have not have enjoyed as much. When done seamlessly, they offer a completion to the whole that nothing else can provide.

Definitely, I don't see why with all the awards that get handed out at the Oscars they can't have one for best stunt coordinator. Cut out one of the musical dance numbers or the Academy's salute to the artificial butter put on popcorn and the telecast won't be any longer.
