Besides if we are gonna laugh at my stupidity, any real Chewer knows to bring up the Battle Royale thread.
Which I still have never read. Someone pull that back out of the ether!
No I can't play along with that one - I still haven't seen BR

Having to dig deep within the recesses of the CHUD Masters of Lunacy to maintain some sort of credibility should flare up a red light right about now.

And so Herpes said, "Yeah, but at least I'm not AIDS!".

That Battle Royale thread is a classic.

Time to dust off the old DSM-IV handbook.

No need to throw salt in old wounds here.

I guess lemon juice is out too...

Ohhhh Doctor! I bet Nidhi had egg on her face that morning. When will Nidhi learn? I bet she thinks its Nidhi's world and we're just living in it.

Do you think Diva's two brain cells have run out of card games to play by now?

I can't be bothered to read through this damn thread again, but did someone suggest watching SNIPER?
If Moltisanti posted, that's an affirmative.
Sniper is his tussin.

Let's not forget the Spoil Classics for Diva thread that her Battle Royale comments spawned.
That is a great thread. Almost as good as this one, but not quite.
Oh, I couldn't resist that thread.

That thread is......too....funny...

Choice comments:
Grapes of Wrath: Why are movies about the Depression so sad?

Casbablanca: MOROCCO and MARACAS sound similar but are different words. What other words sound the same but are different?

Seven Samurai: Why didn't they use guns or something?/Why did they all have to die?

The Abyss: Would Amazon.com deliver to an abyssal trench?
Question for everybody: Diva went through and edited out EVERY POST of hers. Does that make you think she's (a) very stupid or (b) slightly stupid?

Also, please note that she did this on Thanksgiving. You know, in case that will factor into your opinion.
Oh fuck that's stupid.
She hit the infamous "Battle Royale" thread as well.

Sad really.
I must contribute to this thread's posterity: these will be out of context, but here are the essential Diva posts for understanding this thread:

Quote:
Because the mail in Brooklyn is shaky at best and I figured the fact that they have a receptionist would ensure that I got the package. Usually, my friends (I have several who still work there) either grab my packages and hold them for me or tell me it has arrived so I can swing by and pick it up. They have a new receptionist, but she knows who I am. Who leaves packages just laying around anyways? I e-mailed the Executive Director to complain.
Quote:
Well, I'm complaining to UPS then. Someone is replacing my package.
Quote:
How is it my mistake? I didn't sign for the package. UPS is responsible for delivering the package to me. I didn't authorize anyone else to to sign for it. Anyway, I called UPS and they said someone named Arora signed for it. There's no one by that name that works there. So that's a plus in my direction. UPS told me to call Amazon and ask for a "tracer". I have no idea what that means.
Quote:
The package was address to me, regardless of the work address.
Quote:
There's one thing I've learned in life, if you complain enough, you'll get what you want. I've gotten free phones from my cell phone carrier, meals for free when the restaurant fucked up my order, etc. I may be fucked but I'm not going down with out a fight.
Quote:
Here's the deal. My old job is a small not-for-profit with a staff of about 10 people, half of which are my good friends and the rest are acquaintances. I stop by that office at least once a week to meet up with my buddies. As I said in my first post, I have sent packages there before and everything was kosher. The problem this time is that the receptionist was a fucking moron and left it sitting out unattended.
Quote:
As for why didn't I just go to a store. Well, I received a gift certificate to Amazon for my birthday back in May and was willing to wait until October to get my hands on this DVD. So thanks for the tip B.G., but I can't hold Amazon hostage by putting a stop on my credit card.
Quote:
And while I agree that Amazon and UPS are not at fault here, it never hurts to ask. Despite what some may think of me, I'm not a scammer. I don't make up elaborate stories to con people out of stuff. I simply ask for things. And if they say "no" then fine. No big deal.
Quote:
UPS in Brooklyn is just as ridiculous as the postal service. I've taken off work to wait for packages only to have UPS never show or they showed but didn't ring the fucking doorbell! I'll see a sticky on my front door and damn the delivery person to hell. We just had a new buzzer system installed in the building so no matter what room I'm in, I can hear that fuckng thing, so they can't use the excuse that the buzzer doesn't work (which it didn't previously).
Quote:
In any case, now that my anger over some douchebag stealing my stuff has subsided, really no harm was done as I didn't spend any money on this. And to top off my day, this morning I woke to find that someone offered me $300 for some free gym passes I got from my summer job and had put up for sale on craigslist. So I will get my DVD set and all will be right with the world.
Quote:
1. Regardless of whether it is her job to safeguard my property, I spoke to her and she said that she would. She fucked up and has acknowledged it as such. I get wrong mail delivered to my house all the time. I don't have to, but I make sure it gets delievered to the right house, sometimes by personally walking it over the right building. It's just common sense not to leave things unattended.

2. You do realize we live in a capitalist society, right? There's a law of supply and demand. If I have goods that somebody wants, and they are willing to pay for them, that's just business. I didn'tforce anyone to buy anything against their will. In fact, those passes are worth $50 a pop and I sold them for $20. Everyone wins.

3. My stance on corporations has always been one of disgust, so trying to get a $20 DVD off a corporation that makes milllions in profits doesn't seem all that bad to me.

4. Well, people are complex creatures. No ones inherently good or bad. The good charitable work I do, and have done in my life, far outweighs anything bad I've done. I'm okay with myself, so why should I give a fuck how I come across on these boards?
No it's not. It's like leaving my keys with a friend who left it the car unattended. Again, I'm partially to blame for entrusting the key to my friend. But I wasn't the one who left it unattended.
Quote:
Don't play semantics. You know what I meant. The point is I asked someone to hold a package for me and she said yes. Regardless of the fact that I shouldn't have given her that responsibility, she took it. In my mind, that is not equivelant to me leaving car keys inside of a car unattended.

Sending a package to a place of business, even if I don't work there, is not a crime. Was it a stupid decision? Maybe. But its certainly not something to hold someone in contempt for.
Quote:
I didn't have some random receptionist "keep tack" of my belongings. I asked an acquaintance if she would look out for my package. She said yes. I didn't force her to say that. She accepted that responsibility on her own volition. It may be irresponsible on my part to entrust her with that responsibility, but no wrongdoing has occured.

I may have talked shit about someone on a messageboard, where nobody knows who she is, to vent my anger, but I never made her feel responsible for the loss of the package nor did I make anyone in the office feel that she was to blame. And after my anger subsided, I admitted in here that I overreacted and that blaming her for this was wrong.

In addition, I also admitted that Amazon and UPS weren't to blame. In my post about the stickies, I ended with a smiley because I realized how ridiculous it was to hold them responsible. I had already e-mailed Amazon by then, but knew I was fucked. To my surprise they responded and offered to reimburse me. I didn't make them do it. I didn't threaten them with a litigation. I simply asked.

If people really think all that puts me in the wrong, then there's nothing else to say. I don't see it that way, the receptionist doesn't see it that way, and no one in the office sees it that way. In fact, no one I've spoken to outside of CHUD sees it that way. No one deserves to have their property stolen and nothing you guys have said has shown how I'm responsibile for that act. I'm not going to feel guilty for getting upset that my personal belongings were stolen. I do feel remorse for not using the CHUD link to order my stuff. Sorry, Nick!
Quote:
Hey, if the worst thing that happens to me in this world is that a DVD gets stolen, I think I'm doing okay. slater, on the hand, seems to have bad shit happening to him all the time.
Quote:
In other news, the new package arrived at my apartment today. Thans, God! And by God, I mean Amazon.

You all can cast me as anti-Christ all you want. But no one in this thread is a saint. We're all hypocrites. The difference is I don't pretend not to be. Judge me all you want to. I certainly won't lose any sleep over it.

Diva, why the edit of an almost year old thread? It was one of the best.

Edited - Nevermind. Just read the meltdown thread for your explanation. No offense, but very, very lame.
I shed tears of laughter reading this thread. Deleting the posts makes you seem more pathetic Diva.
I'm sort of sad to have read Diva's actual posts. Having all of her posts read "..." really got the ole' creative juices flowing. I had to improvise and, in my head, alot of what she said apparently involved "pie" and different types thereof. Sure, it didn't make a whole lot of sense, but it was far more entertaining than the reality.

I've enjoyed the unbelievably ridiculous outrage over the editing of my posts. It is irony defined that I am called pathetic for my actions when it's infinitely more pathetic that people searched the archives and cut and pasted my posts back into the thread in order to reconstruct it for the sole purpose of laughing at another person's expense. When I edited my posts I knew people would bitch and complain that their source of amusement was defiled, but you all far exceeded my expectations to how far you would go to get it back. Truly amazing. Really. You should be proud.
Diva, you're Sissyphus at this point. Bow out gracefully.
Also, not to bring up old shit, but I remember a time when Diva led the charge against another Chewer for editing their content of their posts in order to make themselves look less stupid, and then proceeded to crack jokes against that Chewer whenever "great moments in CHUD history" came up.

"Rath's brother." It was stupid, juvenile, immature, and I deserved every ounce of crap I got over it, but oh, the irony.

Diva: I agree that you didn't break the law. I just think editing your own posts with your bare hands when they didn't have to be edited at all says something about your character. Obviously, this is in disagreement with the minority of people who say editing your posts was necessary.
I didn't realize the deer thread was so new. I don't really see anything bizarre about that one. Without the other issues feeding it, that deer thread would fade away.
