Some fuckhead stole my Arrested Development Season 2 DVD!!! - Page 2

You know what type of people have online purchases sent to places they have no attachment to (i.e. not a place of resident nor employment)?

Identity thieves.

So, who's credit card number did you really use?

This gem got kind of buried so I wanted to bring it back to the top. Elitist Battle Royale scummery at it's finest!

Diva, we've had our ups and downs, but you are behaving like a spoiled princess over this. Had you taken proper responsibility in this matter at the beginning, none of this craziness would have happened. The whole "Boo hoo the world just fucked me out of my DVDs" angle is retarded. Why not have it delivered toa friends house? get a PO box? Get it sent to your school? Your current job (if you are still there)? That you even thought to accept an apology from the receptionist despite this being 100% your fault is incredibly shallow and mean-spirited.

If it makes everybody feel any better we will all be paying for the "mistake" that was made by the "company" as they average in the price of replacing something that shouldn't be replaced into the prices that we all pay.

Yep it's consequence free living.

That's the part thats missing. The corporation isn't go to pay for it, Diva. By convincing them to pay for your mistake, you will add to their overhead, and that cost gets passed on to other consumers.

I'm all for holding people accountable, but guess what? No one at Amazon or UPS did anything wrong in this case. I didn't do anything wrong either, but I'm going to pay for it when I get Episode III rush delivered to my door. So thanks.

I find it funny that at the beginning of this thread you were just considering using Amazon as a scapegoat but as you went on you started talking like they were actually at fault. Kinda like you convinced yourself along the way. I agree it's a bummer situation but there's really no one at fault here but you - and I say that in the nicest way possible. Cut the losses...buy it again.

Pretty much what I was going to say. It sucks getting blamed for things that are not your fault, I bet you have been in that situation before so stop and have a think about how it made you feel.

Yeah, she didn't use the CHUD link.

They don't always ship UPS. I have received packages through them via the U.S. Postal Service.

Also, a few years ago, I bought the Sopranos: Season 2 boxset around Christmas and left it on my shelf unwrapped until the following February. When I opened it, the case inside was broken, so the DVDs would not stay in place. I called Amazon and they replaced it after I explained the situation.

Are they sending the new package to your old job also?

Na, that'd be stupid.

Diva, I'm usually with ya, but this is like leaving your keys in your car every day and then being shocked when somebody finally steals it.

Just think... if you had of gone to a store and bought it in person this whole problem could have been avoided. But I guess that would have been the easy and smart thing to do.

I'm imagining a small bird continually ramming itself into a plate glass window.

But if your friend has the key, who cares if the car is unattended? The whole reason we have keys is so we can leave things unattended.
So you pinched another one out of Amazon?
That's so ghetto.

I'm imagining the window breaking because the bird's skull is so goddamned thick.

Save that for Montel.
"You don't know me! You no better than me!"

Most of the disgust here stems from your lack of remorse. You're embracing your petty sense of entitlement.

Lost in all this discussion and hate is a person who is watching Arrested Development Season Two in Brooklyn going "I don't get it. Why is a hook hand so funny?".

BWAHAHAHAH.

Some of the other comments (the Montel one in particular), are also sublimely hysterical.

Diva, you need to step back and laugh at yourself a little bit. Or slap yourself. Or, whatever.

Also, you need to look up the definition of the word hypocrite, because I don't see how this applies: "If one incident can cause you to reverse your opinion of someone, I'll call you out as a hypocrite."

Before that took place at some point the phrase "Arrested Development Season Two unopened for only $15, is it hot?" must have been spoken.

That would be me, I guess. The incident in question didn't reverse my opinion of you. It just made me think less of you. Not the same thing.

This thread, on the other hand...yeah, that has pretty much reversed my opinion of you.

Feel free to call me out as a hypocrite. I'm dying to see how that works.

You had no right ot ask them for anything because, like you said, it wasn't their fault.

Businesses want satisfied customers. I worked at 7-11 as a teen and remember when some lady tried to return a gallon of milk that was clearly labeled "Circle K", our competitor. My manager said that the customer was always right and I refunded her the money. Amazon didn't have to replace my package, but they did. I respect them for that and will certainly recommend their services to my friends.
So you're comparing yourself to a senile old woman returning something she really shouldn't have? Brilliant.
It's good that you respect Amazon for indulging your spoiled nature.

Those few sentences pretty much sum up what is wrong with the world today vis a vis "living with hard truths" and "taking responsibility for one's actions."

You talked shit on a receptionist for not keeping track of your personal mail at a place you don't work, and then had a company who isn't at fault cover the cost of replacing the item. Yeah, not sure what you did wrong at all.

If you're going to use an analogy, then use it correctly.

You know, I purposely stayed out of this thread, because I'm always one of the first guys to start dumping on our Resident Duddits, and it seemed like y'all already had things covered. I figured I'd just sit this one out.

And like some sort of negative karmic retribution, today Amazon ships me a faulty Arrested Development Season Two boxset that's missing the first disc.

The moral is clear: I have been shirking my duties, and God is PISSED.
