Orly Taitz is quite obviously bi-polar and probably dangerous. What a cnut.

I love how Colbert efficiently skewered her without her even noticing.

She's a lawyer, a dentist, and a real estate agent.

That combination is jarringly hilarious.

What's more jarring: She's a successful dentist, and she's apparently cultivating quite the fanclub.
Funniest was when Colbert asked Huffington if she was her in a different shirt.

Kathryn Bigelow is cute for a 57-year-old woman.

Special shoutout to Colbert last night kicking the shit out of the CEO of BP!

edit - Shoot. Wrong thread. Don't mind me.
nice beat down from Colbert - I'm surprised he beat up a captain of industry rather than an obama-look a like or some other "socialist". Still the funniest guy on TV (especially since stewart became a pussy over palestine again last night).
Colbert basically had the ambassador from Israel put forth the IDF propaganda story without challenge yesterday.
I disagree. He essentially got the guy to admit that the blockade isn't about weapons, but about economic punishment. His "if anybody, it's the Palestinians who should go back where they came from" line was a pretty nasty zinger, too.
His take-down of Laura Ingraham last night was GENIUS.
He crushed Ingraham! She had no comeback for Stephen. She even made the mistake of bringing up how he called her 'Ichabod Crane's banshee widow.' I don't use the word trounced often, but it applies here. And how the hell is her book number 1 on the New York Times Bestseller List?
Her big comeback seemed to be to point out that Stephen has writers. Uh, zing?

My favorite part was when she started to bring up Native Americans during that whole banshee thing, as though that was in any way relevant to the discussion. That whole episode was brilliant, and while the interview was incredible, everything with Basil Marceaux Dot Com had me crying from laughter.
That was beautiful. When I grow up I want to be as good at trolling assholes as Colbert.
I've been a bit down on Colbert lately, but that was fantastic.
That was an excellent takedown - I can't believe she tried to take him on, plus the way he then defended calling her 'Ichabod Crane's banshee widow' as if it was supposed to be a compliment, her mentioning native americans made her look like the blonde fox retard she clearly is.

Colbert still fantastic - hopefully the Colbert bump will get Marceaux dot com on to our screens a little more.

Also the other day when he realized he must be gay - that was great too.

What was the line, together we can help him become Basil Marceaux Dot Gov? Gold. And yeah, the Ingrahm evisceration was a beautiful thing. Like watching cheetah/gazelle footage, but you're on the cheetah's side.
Basically, substance of Ingraham's 'banshee widow' comeback was that banshees originate from Native American culture, so that crack by Stephen was just as racist as her writing that Michelle Obama was eating tons of ribs for dinner. The only difference is Ingraham ISN'T NATIVE AMERICAN! God, what an idiot.
Except that banshees are part of Irish folklore not Native American.
Yea I was wondering where the hell Ingraham was going with that. I wish Colbert had let her continue just because I was wondering how she was going to put her foot in her mouth.

Colbert's been on a real hot streak the past couple of weeks. His plan to ruin gay marriage on Thursday's episode nearly had me in tears.

That was superb. Just a total joy.

Such a gifted comedian. The way he can sell the emotion of the most ridiculous gags is truly a joy to watch. The only thing better than this kind of gag is watching him eat. Nobody eats funnier.
He sold that story so well last Thursday. I was watching that on my way out to work and I couldn't pull away even though it was on DVR and I was running late.

I love how that shrill whore just tries to fall back on "Dartmouth" as some sort of safety net while she's being eviscerated by Colbert. The most senseless desperate move I think I've seen someone like that retreat to.

So Colbert testified in front of congress today in character. Twas awesome.

fantastic! AND THE STRANGELOVE WAS SUPERB!

Colbert is right on his game at the moment.

I hate feeling like a massive stick in the mud, but what the fuck was the point and purpose of this? I saw a clip on CNN and couldn't help feeling that it was a massive waste of time. I think Washington has better things to do than have him sit in there and do a comedy routine.

From HuffPo:

Colbert appeared with United Farm Workers (UFW) President Arturo S. Rodriguez before the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law. In August, the comedian spent a day working at a corn and vegetable farm in New York state after Rodriguez appeared on his show to discuss UFW's "Take Our Jobs" campaign.

The effort is intended to debunk the theory that undocumented immigrants are taking jobs away from American citizens and highlight the fact the nation's food supply is dependent on these farm workers.

Quote:
CONGRESSWOMAN JUDY CHU: Mr. Colbert, you could work on so many issues, why are you interested in this issue?

COLBERT: I like talking about people who don't have any power. And this seems like some of the least powerful people in the United States are migrant workers who come and do our work but don't have any rights as a result. And yet we still invite them to come here, and at the same time ask them to leave. And, you know, whatsoever you do for the least of my brothers, these seem like the least of our brothers, right now. And I know that a lot of people are the least of my brothers because the economy is so hard, and I don't want to take anyone's hardship away from them or diminish it or anything like that, but migrant workers suffer, and they have no rights."
I think what makes Colbert great is that even while in character he slipped in nuggets like this.

Did anyone see Colbert last night deciding who to give his Grammy nomination to? Fucking Great. Watch it on line, please.

"Arcade Fire? Stewart had them on so Fuck 'em."

The Black Keys/Vampire Weekend sellout-off was fantastic.

And while everybody is fawning over Jon Stewart's "heartfelt and sober" handling of the Tuscon shootings,  Colbert's handling of the whole rotten situation definitely seems more genuine.  He isn't trying to be a statesmen like Stewart; instead, he is just doing his job of pointing out the ridiculous and preposterous events of these awful and depressing days.  His takedown of Palin last night was epic.

EDIT: And I'm not implying that Stewart was anything less than genuine in his remarks. Its just after watching a weekend's worth of somber newscasts, I was ready to feel a little better by laughing and Colbert definitely scratched that itch.

As with most of Colbert's interviews, the Kevin Spacey one was great. Nothing against John Stewart and his loyal followers, but I much prefer Colbert's show, and its not even close.

I gotta agree, Colbert is consistently great whereas Stewart has moments of greatness. I wouldn't want one without the other though.

Really? I'd say Colbert's interviews, and the show in general, are funnier, but they're a lot less informative and/or interesting. Colbert always makes it all about him, which is the joke, but it means that a lot of the interesting people he has on don't really get to say much. There's maybe one moment in the interview where they get to really speak, the rest is just Stephen bouncing zingers off them. Whereas Stewart actually tries to get into some interesting meat.

On a good interview day, Colbert is like the ultimate devil's advocate. Which can be great.

sometimes Stewart gets to some meat, and when he does, it can be AMAZING. However 90% of the time it's just Stewart with his tongue up Ricky Gervais's ass. Colbert can get a funny interview out of a dead yak or a hollywood a-lister, it doesn't matter. My previous post was generally about the whole show, not just the interviews.

90% of the time? That seems kind of harsh. He doesn't even interview celebrities more than half the time.

Exactly right. Colbert has people on his show who I never even heard of and he usually makes it interesting and funny. Stewart can have on ex-presidents and A-list celebs and it isn't nearly as entertaining or informative.

Oh my God, the Taco Bell segment killed me. "It's like your mouth has gone to the beach! To take a vacation from meat!"

I'd characterize their shows just like this.  But Stewart also has that Opera quality about him.  He's just extremely likable and very credible.  Something about his personality speaks honesty.  His empathy feels genuine, while others just appear a little manipulative.

Colbert has been amazing this week. Missing his show is unforgiveable.

So, as you might have noticed, last night's was unexpectedly a rerun, and the show is apparently taking an abrupt production break. There are some rumours of a family emergency for Colbert. Hope everything's OK.

Same.  I hope he and his family are doing well.

If the rumors are true about his 91-year-old (!!) mother being very ill, I hope he can take as much time off as he wants.

So his mother's 91, and if I recall correctly he's one of eleven children. ELEVEN.
