Which TV stars could make the jump to the big screen? - Page 2

Dylan Moran, there's another British import I would love to see more of [Just watched Black Books for the first time]

I'd like to see Tom Cavanagh get a great role in a film one of these days.

Doctor House himself Hugh Laurie. Sure he was in movies before but it was in minor parts. He could be easily carry a film in a suspense or a comedy. The guy is fantastic.

I`m also a fan of Adam Brody and I think to bring more of a sens of fun in the next Hulk movie they should bring him in as Rick Jones.

By the way, am I the only one that has been surprised that David Duchovny didn`t make a bigger star on the big screen? He was actually pretty good in Kalifornia and didn`t embarass himself in the other films he was in. I think he could have made a good straight man in challenging comedies(since he`s a pretty funny guy in person). Or continue on his Kalifornia/X-Files path of being the invesitgator/eye of the spectator in suspensful progects. Then again there`s a type of people over the years in movies that could have had these big careers but were too choosy and have said "no" too many times. I see David as that type of person that would not jump into anything.

David Duchovney is a really funny guy in real life, if you see him on Letterman and stuff like that. He has a really dry sense of humor which I liked. But onscreen he's pretty boring, actually, really boring. On his own, there's not lot real compelling about him. I think with some very careful projects he could be awesome in a comedy similar to "Office Space", but he's just not the type who can fit into any generic role and pull it off.

Joshua Jackson: He seemed to be the real star of Dawson's Creek rather than Van Der Beek and he was very likeable and fun as Pacey and could pull off that stylized dialogue really well.

Adam Brody

Yes, I could totally see Adam Brody taking the lead in a Ferris Beuller-type role, or even in a Wes Craven movie. (I liked his one scene in The Ring.)

Of all the names so far, Nathan Fillion (is that spelled right?) is the one with the most star quality. He has it in spades.

Oh, and Dylan Moran is Irish, not British.

After his nifty KING KONG supporting role as self-enchanted movie star Bruce Baxter, I'd love to see Kyle Chandler get a few more big-screen shots. That, or a cool series starring him and Robert Forster as father-and-son PIs or something.

That's some resemblance, if you ask me.

I absolutely love Terry O'Quinn on "Lost". I've loved his supporting turns in "The Rocketeer", "Tombstone" and what not, but if Locke doesn't show that this guy should be a major supporting player, I don't know what will.

On the subject of Petersen, I believe that for a while he wasn't that interested in movies. He was offered leading parts in both 'Goodfellas' and 'Platoon' but turned them both down to do Theatre instead. Of course, that means he has to make shit like 'The Beast' to make ends meet but there you go...

I second Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer. But as I understand it Schwimmer doesn't have much interest in film/television, he seems to be more interested in doing stage work and directing.

I think that Gary Sinese is due some better work by now. He's a much better actor than CSI:NY deserves but seems to be mainly relegated to supporting roles in films.

English actor David Tennant, who has been cast as the new Doctor Who, was utterly fantastic in a production of Casanova on the BBC. He gets a go on the big screen as Bart Crouch in Goblet of Fire.
Yes, he has a lot of potential. I watched him in some godawful ITV production last week (Secret Smile?) in which he departed from the norm as psychopath. It takes a lot to keep me glued to ITV crap and Tennant was that glue alone.

He could be the best Dr. Who since Tom Baker. With decent scripts (a bit of a problem with the current writers) he could be better than Tom Baker, which is saying something.

Where he could go in the movie business is anyone’s guess. He’s not your archetypal Hollywood lead, but he’s a leap beyond most of the faceless, characterless bores currently drawing fat cheques.

Even though television insists on killing him off time and time again, I think Papa Winchester from "Supernatural," Jeffery Dean Morgan, should get a shot at some bigger film roles. The guy has presence and bad-assery to spare, and he's also got one of the better gravelly voices this side of Sam Elliott.

I'm in no means even remotely close to a "browncoat", but Nathan Fillion is fantastic, guy could be wonderful in the right roll.

and Ian MacShane should definetly have more rolls after his run on Deadwood.

McShane is playing some southern bigwig in WE ARE MARSHALL, mandating that I see it.

I know he's English, but he would be fucking fantastic as the Bear in a remake of "The Lords of Discipline."

Couldn't agree more with the LOST, Scrubs, Deadwood, and SHIELD noms.

And Molt, you're missing out if you don't watch Deadwood and Scrubs! 2 of my current faves that contain great performances and writing. You need to check them out just for McShane and McGinley alone....

I think Jenna Fisher(Pam from The Office) would be great in movies,Shes just got this charm about her that would make for a great love interest. I still havent seen her in Lollilove yet but I keep hearing good things about it thus far.

Talking comedy, "The Office" is a hilarious breeding ground for some future big screen comedy stars. Carell has obviously already parlayed his TV time into an ever-improving big screen career. But I think Rainn Wilson (Dwight) is another major contender for someone who could make for a great supporting player.

McShane in "We Are Marshall" sounds good, especially with another great TV star Matthew Fox involved as well.

And oh, let me be the very first to say, if the Bond series heads in the direction they seem to be going, I nominate Michael Emerson (Henry Gale on "Lost") as the Blofeld-knockoff they'll need.

Great call on ULTRAVIOLET as that was a great blending of England and sci-fi with the X-FILES weirdness to boot. I would also like to throw in doing the Law & Order series as a couple sets of longer movies. Ratch up the crime, profanity, and slap a R on that bitch and I think people would line up. The actors might be down for it as it would allow their (sometimes) near decade old characters to expand into another medium and the built in TV audience to go with them. Worse comes to worse you have more TV on DVD product and they can slap the lovely "UNRATED & UNCUT" tag that appears to be the 2000 version of EXTREME.

The guy that made me think of this is Dominic West of "The Wire" on HBO. First off, its probably the best show on TV, and secondly, he's amazing in it. He's got a real charisma, a real cinematic way about him where he doesn't feel the need to overdo any of it. He's co-starring in "300", which should be good. I think he could be a good Two-Face as well.

Timothy Olyphant is the man on "Deadwood". Yeah, he had a few big screen supporting parts, but nothing that really let him shine like this. He's my personal choice for the Joker, and I think the guy has some skills.

Michael Chiklis is flirting with it. I think there's room for him to fill the void left by Tom Sizemore's trouble with the law and Michael Madsen's trouble with fat.

And "Elektra" notwithstanding, I've always liked Goran Visjnic from "ER".

Who do you guys like?

Jessica Alba

Jessica Biel

Evangeline Lilly

Ashly Scott

Shannen Doherity

Wasn't she in Slither?

EDIT: Checked imdb... Jenna Fischer was Shelby (dispatcher) at the sherriff's office.

Yeah, but that was probly 'cause she's James Gunn's wife.

And Caruso couldn't be a worse choice. He constantly has this condescending my-shit-dont-stink look on his face which, while perfect for CSI, irritates me no end.
