this is already looking horrible
can kevin smith do anymore to tarnish his once good name?

Actually, just seeing Dante and Randall together with those looks on their faces makes me want to see it.

VegatheChosen, are you unable to read the announcement at the top of every single forum here?
Pretty spoilerish if ya ask me, but I'm sure we'd find that out in a trailer anyway.
Dante looks especially evil in that shot.

Can't wait for this personally. Sure, some folk whine about Kevin not stretching himself etc... I see it as Kevin going back to doing what he does best. Dante and Randal.

This movie will suck ass.

Now we'll get Smith's version of "Waiting", but the waiters here will be oh so witty with their big, long words that no one actually uses in a regular conversation.

Ah, but his Custom User Title is "Bold and Defiant".

Rumored plotline: Spoilers to follow:

Dante is running for some government office. The scene at Mooby's is part of his campain. The movie will follow Dante as he makes it big, and eventually makes his way back to The Quick Stop. Echoing Smith's own "return to the well". Last line of the film (?):

Customer: "Are you even suppose to be here anymore?"

Dante: "Yes, yes I am."

I read this suff here and there. Take it all with a grain of salt.

Those two did not age well.

This thread makes Kevin Smith rule by comparison.

Vega is a douche. Have you seen his posts that actually contain words? The kid does not have a grasp of English grammar.

On a completely unrelated note, it's apparently impossible to make Rosario Dawson un-hot.

But that will not save this movie from being a stinking load.
How could you think the movie is gonna suck just from that picture? Sure, it seems a little too "bright" for the somewhat dreary Clerks world, but I sure as hell wouldnt be able to draw any reason for it sucking or not sucking based on that one picture.

Who is that churl to the left? It doesn't look great but I'll see it the same way I saw Jersey Girl... kicking and screaming but unable to look away.

Smith said awhile back that Clerks 2 was not going to be a cameo driven film ala J&SBSB. So far Ethan Suplee, Ben Affleck and Jason Lee have shot scenes for the flick. Not to mention his wife Jen is one of the main characters.

I suppose he meant the actors would not be playing the same characters they did before (Lee =Banky or Brodie), or he lied.
Yeah, and he did say it wasn't going to be a star-studded affair and that himself, Jay, Brian and Jeff were going to be the most famous names in the cast.

And then Rosario all of a sudden gets a part. Wouldn't that be an insult to her?

My faith is not restored.

He also said he was never going back to these characters after Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. So he changed his mind. What's the big deal?

Probably more like Bob and Harvey changed his mind. Clerks 2 went from being just another Dimension/Miramax film, to being the first film for the Weinstein Co. So:

Bigger stars = more asses in seats.

Harvey Weinstein: "Kevin Smith".
Kevin Smith: "Yes Master".
Harvey Weinstein "Riiise".

To Smith's credit, he did say that he would do another Jay and Bob flick if Jason Mewes kicked his heroin addiction, which he supposedly has.

That said, it doesn't look like Smith's making a smart move. I have no objections to revisiting these characters, but Smith seems to have forgotten what made them great in the first place. I think Smith has followed in the same path of his hero George Lucas. Like Lucas, Smith created some unique characters and portrayed them with a surprising degree of simpleness and sincerity, and people loved him for it. But now he's using churning out heartless sequels featuring his beloved characters to sell merchandise.

I suppose it's premature to call Clerks 2 heartless, but Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back surely was, and these new stills imply that Smith is going back to that film's tiresome outrageousness instead of the intimacy that made Clerks an endearing movie.

Kevin Smith has posted new pics of the film on his blog-like blog.

I'm curious to see what will come of this....those guys held up fairly well over the course of a decade I suppose.
Looks interesting from the pics on his blog. I guess they are all working at Moobies now then does that mean the rumor of Dante running for office was false?
randal and dante look stoned in every one of those pictures. they should buy some visine!
Wow. It's like he's making up for the first one being in black and white by giving this one the most garish color scheme since Uma Thurman played Poison Ivy.

Well production has wrapped, but the film won't come out until August.
Kevin predicts it will go out unrated, but I don't see that happening. The R-rated version will go to theaters, the unrated cut will go on the DVD just like countless other films. Seems crazy to set on this film for like what, 7 months or so? It's not like he has tons of special effects or anything, it's just talking.
