Turturro says he wants to get the Coens to write a sequel focused on the Jesus as a school bus driver. I wouldn't hold my breath.

I would hate to see the Coens ever do a sequel or spin-off, but I have to admit part of me would like to see this.

I love how little screentime the Jesus has though, most other filmmakers would succumb to running that character into the ground.

Not sure if this is true, but a friend of mine said he saw an interview in which Jeff Bridges said all of the clothes he wears in the movie came from his closet. I find that infinitely funny. I mean, those pants The Dude wears...

The Jellies were his too.

Nice marmot.

I think my favorite part is still the fact that the dramatic opera music that plays while the Big Lebowski is telling Dude about Bunny being kidnapped is playing inside the room, as revealed when they leave and Phillip Seymour Hoffman closes the door, and it gets all muffled. Such a good gag.

Yup. Totally hilarious gag.

Just had my new lady friend over to watch this. She said she'd never heard of it [blasphemy!] but when it was over, she said she really, really dug it.

I think I have lent out or had viewings of this movie with my friends and family, more than any other that I can ever think of. And everyone seems to enjoy it. Wonder what was in the water in 1998 during that initial release that kept people from falling in love with this?

Isn't that one shirt (the one with the chinese baseball player on it) also worn by Bridges in the Fisher King? I believe it is.

I saw Jeff Dowd (the real life Dude) speak a few months back at a screening. He's kind of a tool.

"His girlfriend cut off her toe, it's not fair!"
"Fair, who the fuck are the nihilists here?"

Finally made peace with this movie. The ROCKY HORROR-like cult in college always annoyed me. The cartooniness of it all turned me off completely. But I've made my peace.

Bridges, Goodman, Buscemi, and Tuturro make this movie. Every scene at the bowling alley is excellent. Call it blasphemy if you must, but I skipped through all the plot related scenes, pausing to enjoy Hoffman and Stormare. Overall, for me, this is an actors work. The plot provides gags, but that's it.

The Coens are always good at capturing the spirit of a place. Maybe if I visit LA I'll like the movie more. IDK.

I always thought the Dude was supposed to be a hero, but this time around I got the vibe he's no more likable/admirable than Ed Crane or any of the Coens' other protagonists, whom they love making fun of. I think it's Bridges which elevates him into that anti-hero people love.

Because I can't post this enough times, The Big Lebowski script if William Shakespeare had written it.

Watch The Big Lebowski as a double feature with The Big Sleep and play the count the parallels/ reversals drinking game.

Also, the best parts of this movie confirm that the Coens would make excellent TV pilots. Their cast of characters and attractive fantasy worlds and love of episodic plots is the DNA of TV.

A local art house theater is hosting a "Lebowski Fest" this Saturday. There's going to be Wii bowling, White Russians, then The Big Lebowski will be shown on pretty damn big screen.
