I played it for the free month(since its a free download) about a year ago and its not too bad, theres something to be said for being able to train in abilities without having to be online. It makes it so you dont have to be a power gamer to get somewhere in the game. On the other hand, if you want any kind of advanced abilities it takes in excess of two weeks to learn a single skill all the while your stuck just sitting and waiting. I really like how the world is so big youll likely never see it all and that because of this its just one big server sintead of 50 smaller servers like most games. In the end I couldnt justify actually paying the monthly fee to play it though because despite the vastness of the game there just didnt seem like all that much to do. Its either mine asteroids in a big ship that can do nothing else, or kill space pirates who all seem exactly the same no matter where you go. I didnt play enough to get into the pvp aspects of the game so possibly that adds a whole new level I just missed out on so Ill give it the benefit of the doubt that I may have missed the best part.

This is a computer game, not a tabletop game.

I am currently playing EvE, its a whole lotta fun!!! Reminds me of an expanded Homeworld. I really dig that they have content patches that adds to the game. I wish there was a way to buy skill's however, takes foooorrreeever to train up to be good at things but anticipation is part of the fun I guess.

edit -- oh, and its classified as an MMORPG, one of my accounts is a chick.

I just started playing this over the weekend and so far I like it for its economic aspects. There are tons of materials to mine, buy and forge into equipment. The market interface is intricate and more realistic than the economies in most MMO's I've played and there seems to be many ways in which you can mod your ship.

I will agree that skills training can take a while and that alot of time will be spent mining and hauling stuff, but if that's what you are into, then this is the game to have. Since the tutorial, I haven't killed a single thing. I'm a miner and that's how I'll spend most my time I think.

Throw out your in game names so maybe we can get a corporation going.

Wow. I guess nobody around here actually plays EVE Online anymore - seeing as these last posts are from 2005.  We play often and with enthusiasm, as Eve fits what we both look for in an online MMORPG. Hope to see some fellow CHUD community peeps online someday...
