Raptor? I hardly knew 'er!

Seriously, though, dinosaurs and/or birds of prey fighting vampires? I'm sold.

hmmmmm

Ultimately Michael Jai White would have been awesome, prob better than Snipes in the role.

That said, dont know much about Sticky Fingas, he seems to have the 'look' for it (yes, he's a muscly black dude), guess its all about seeing how it gets put together.

The script review from AICN was hardly glowing, showing Blade to be sidelined in order to follow a different characters story prominently.

This is an approach that CAN work, Blade 2 was better by the cast around Snipes, Trinitys ONLY saving grace woiuld be Biels ass and Reynolds' lines - so as long as this other character gives us some polar opposite of the 'big, growly hard-nut' - it could work.

Of course Blade is almost a dead concept already anyway, its only Goyers recently shiny status due to Begins that this has got comm'ed. Geeky sci-fantasy fans probably wouldve enjoyed a 'Hellblazer' TV series much better.

Plus - quick q. Im in the UK - whats Spike TV's rep like? Name some Spike shows?

Lots of reruns, lots of borderline sports (Ultimate Fighting, etc.). MXC is the only thing I've actually ever watched on the station.

Wow... I thought that was L.L. Cool J. Damn.

Man, Spawn got shafted.
Spawn did indeed get screwed.

That said, Mr Throw-Ya-Guns-In-The-Air has actually surprised me in a few places in the last few years.

At best, it could work. At its worst, it still won't suck as hard as Trinity.

Home of Van Damme Wednesdays!

I don't know about Sticky for the role of Blade. He was sort of one note on "Over There," not that Blade is a real multi-dimensional character either.
Yeah Michael Jai White seemed perfect. I really have no clue how this guy will workout but best of luck.

I'm keeping my expectations low. Hopefully they retain the action/martial arts edge the films had. Oh and i'll take a Hellblazer show as well thanks.
I've only seen this guy in Flight of the Phoenix, and wasn't that impressed. To be fair, I wasn't really impressed by anything in Flight of the Phoenix.

Sticky Fingaz used to box some, but I doubt he could pull off the fight scenes this might require. Also, I don't know if he has the acting skill to pull this off. That sounds like a joke, but really, I've never seen him in anything, and from looking at what he has been in, that won't change anytime soon. Blade doesn't require much acting, but the character does need something. Does Sticky have it? Jai White would have been best, but oh well, I'll still give it a shot, I did use to love Onyx.
Why does everyone like Micheal Jai White so much? He's a horrible actor. Did anybody see the deleted scene from Kill Bill 2 or I don't know Spawn. Just because he knows martial arts (he won some championships I know) doesn't mean he would have been perfect as Blade.

Still Sticky Fingaz isn't any better, he's had minor roles in lots of films (Clockers, Dead Presidents, and the upcoming House of the Dead 2 according to imdb) and does a decent job, usually playing a role where he mugs someone or shoots somebody.

I don't know, maybe if he can pull off the martial arts, it could be fun. I mean, of course I'll give it a chance no matter who they go with.

I think it was Stew who said, when this series was first announced, that Mario Van Peebles would have been a great selection. He would have been my first choice since he spent a lot of the 90's making movies that seemed like Snipes would have been offered first.

With "The Shield" coming to an end Michael Jace would have done a good job with this role. Aside from Fingaz' acting being suspect he's also not a very imposing figure. Blade is supposed to walk into a room and look like he can handle a large group of vampires. Judging by "Over There" Fingaz is going to have to really start hitting the roids.

He did some brilliant work in spawn.

Crappy CGI demon who doesn't have a moving mouth: Lead my Army!

Spawn: YEAH!

Wasn't that just a review of only the first half of the two hour pilot though? Who's to say his role isn't increased in the latter half?

As for Spike TV, this will be their first original series I believe.
Scott Baio look more of a Blade than that guy.

I have to second a Michael Jai White or a Van Peeble.
But that guy ?

I don't expect a grade-A acting for Blade, just growl some lines, look mean and kick some ass.

Sheesh, that mean they'll only use a stunt double for the fights. And the look-mean part.

Oh, must have forgotten about that. In that case, it would mirror the styl eo f the first film pretty well then.

I think the guy deserves a shot, its obvious that the other guy, be it MJ white or whoever, didnt cut the mustard as well as him. I'm looking forward to seeing this

I'm sure scheduling and personality compatibility factored in there.
Yeah, I would imagine they would screen for personality issues after what they went through with Snipes. Talk about killing your career....

hmmmm

Just in case anyone was curious....came across a few pictures from a teaser that played.

Looks like the design is being lifted from the first film. Kirk Sticky Fingas Jones looks alright in the part. Well, he looks big, black and pissed - which is about right (and virtually the extent of Wesley Snipes' repetoire anyway).

I'll watch it, why not? Cant be any worse than the Ferris Bueller spin off.... or (shivers) Teen Wolf the animated adventures.....

EDIT: Just realised that the images dont work - find em yerself!!!!

Mr. Fingaz seems adequate.
Don't know if he can act, but he's a dead ringer for 'Tim Bradstreet Blade'.

Yeah that seems serviceable. Still nothing to knock the socks off though.

Publicity pictures online

Check them out at this link.

There is some cheesiness to the Blade 'n' girl pics, but the story sounds interesting. Although Goyer made me excited about Trinity too....

As for the 'look' of Sticky Jones Blade, I have to say I think Im sold. As long as hes believable in the fight scenes and has the right level of Snipes' patented 'deliver lines ONLY through the teeth' style.

Check them out here:

I'm actually really looking forward to this. I think Sticky looks great as Blade, that chick is hot, and from recent interview with Goyer, I sort of like the way they are apparently taking it. Kind of like the vampires as organized crime and Blade sort of shifting tactics and what not to try to make more of a dent. I like that they are now doing a two hour pilot movie, which is awesome, and then spinning off the show. If Sticky can fight, this could be sweet, he looks great as the Daywalker.
I can't believe they went with a guy called 'Sticky Fingaz'
That's sort of half the fun for me.
At least his name isn't "Stinky Fingaz".
The show's been greenlit. We've got a full season of Blade coming our way, for better or worse.
