Castlevania: Curse of Darkness

Sucks. It's so fucking monotonous, everything looks the same, it's just hallway after hallway after hallway...with a shit ton of backtracking, usually just to find some healing item you don't need anyway. The fighting is the same for just about every enemy I've come across, get behind them (or don't, it doesn't really matter all that much) [][][]O, or [][][][]O. Other than light/heavy differences the weapons all do pretty much the same thing. Except for specific areas I haven't found any reason at all to change from the Devil Fairy Chick I started the game with. The other Devils are fun, I guess, but you're strong enough to fight everything without them so why not just stick with the one that can heal you up anytime you want? I'm glad I just rented.

It's a damn shame Konami can't make a good 3-D Castlevania. Hopefully they'll go back to 2-D with all the graphics power the next gen will offer, I won't hold my breath though.

I didn't think Lament of Innocence was that bad. Then again, I'm very forgiving when it comes to this series (I don't even share the same hatred of Castlevania 64 most do). Can anybody who played LoI do a comparison?

Regardless, with Guitar Hero this week, Half-Life 2 waiting next week, and a wait-and-see attitude with Path of Neo (a bunch of stores broke street date, and the good word has been...well...not that good.), into the Gamefly queue it goes.
