People who follow porn

Thread Starter
There are few people creepier than those who really follow porn - who know the different actors and who have a large number of films, or who have seen a large number of them. I wouldn't want to shake their hands.
It's pretty amazing how expensive pornography is. For people who are into it, it's like the only hobby they can do.
Moreso for gay porn. Certainly not worth the cash or time to see repetitive, olympic, but repetitive buttfucking scenes.

I don't really get how straight porn is less repetitive.
It's not, but I don't believe I addressed straight porn at all.
Point proven.
Dan's avatar works so well here.
Reading that post from supertom has made me feel all oily. On the inside.
I actually have a strange craving for salami.
As to the topic, I don't know how strange it is.
I don't follow porn at all. I know maybe four names in it's entire history. But I know the mentality of hobbyists and collectors (film, comics, sports) is a fetishistic (sp?) one. Porn fans share the same tendencies as any other fan.

With a side order of bony macaroni?

But their hobby is jerking off.
Well then every guy on the planet is creepy.

Every guy jerks off, but there's a difference between an occasional activity and a hobby.

We all brush our teeth daily, but that's not a hobby.
Obviously you've never attended FlourideCon dressed as your favorite dental product.
That's a weak comparison. Dental hygiene is a chore, whereas masturbation is a physical compulsion.
Most people engage in hobbies that allow them to express or indulge their natural compulsions. Anal retentive film geeks catalog and list films. Horny guys watch porn. It's all healthy.
I won't deny that I find porn collecting and other sexual hobbies weird and personally distasteful. But I don't automatically assume the people are creepy.
What's weird and upsetting is how quickly porn can become an addiction, and how that person can't see the line between porn and everything else. When you see someone who truly doesn't think about it -- someone who *watches* instead of just throwing one on to rub one off, that's unsettling.

In a related tissue, the current Wired has an article on the Netflix of porn and why it hasn't become the goldmine that everyone thinks it would be.

There used to be a Pepsodent ad in the 70's that had a spandex clad chick shooting a laser out of a toothpaste tube onto an airline pilot's teeth.
She was hot.
I went one year wearing a "I liked Cinnamon Floss better when it was Mint Waxed" and some fat-guy in a Oral B shirt tried to punch me.
Creepy.

"don't be so suburban"

Isn't your high horse tired from you riding it around all the time Devin?

Some of you people should really consider killing yourselves.

This is because you don't like the Rhino, isn't it.
Rhino fans are creepy.

I don't have a moral problem with porn, but to get really involved in it - the form is empty and meaningless. The films are made without art and with only the intention of quickly getting you off. That people should invest so much of themselves into masturbating is creepy.

And that's beyond the fact that anyone who is deeply involved with porn is likely to have an unhealthy sex life. Even if they are getting laid, they've probably learned to expect porn-like sex, which just isn't going to happen. Of course, I sincerely doubt that the people who are really into porn are getting laid all that much without some date rape drugs.
Healthy sex lives are hard to come by for many. You could be born ugly or raised wrong. Plus, a healthy sex life requires a partner with equally an equally healthy attitude. Sometimes porn is all a person has.
You're just being judgemental. You can't seperate something you don't like from the person practicing it. It's your old habit of deciding that there's something wrong with somebody if they don't like what you like.

Did you miss the part where I said I have no problem with porn? I have enjoyed porn, and fully intend to do so again in the future.

This isn't about jerking off to a porn film.

This is about being deeply involved in porn as a hobby. Again, if jerking off is your hobby, you've got issues.
Deeply involved... as in posting about a porn actress dying.

Knowing the actress' name... that kind of shit.

Catch up people...

.
No, I saw that part. I'm talking about the part where you judge those who like porn MORE than you as being creepy.

I guess in the judgement free world of Bob Clark there is no creepiness.

Well, there's no pointless hyperbole anyway.

I would like you to define what is creepy. If fixation on porn and masturbation doesn't fit the bill, I am curious as to what does.
Public masturbation is pretty creepy. So are furry conventions, cause that's like one big orgy of creepiness.
I suppose any time someone carries their personal sexual quirks out into the public arena it's creepy.
Grabbing your girl's ass. Fine.
Grabbing a strange girl's ass on the bus. Creepy.
No, I understand what Devin is talking about. I've got a friend who has pretty much learned everything he knows about sex from porn. He has said to me "You can actually learn some pretty useful things." That's just sad. I'm afraid that he's going to try to get a woman pregnant by squirting in her eye.

I never understood why people would want to watch porn myself. I mean the hardcore stuff. I can understand wanting to look at naked bodies as a form of art, but why would you want to watch someone else have sex? Are you picturing yourself in those situations? Do you really need all the fake moaning and groaning just to get off? Or is it about more than just masturbation? I want answers, people!
I also don't understand the people who judge porn by plot lines and performance. That shit's irrelevant, that's why I buy nothin but 4 hours of come shot compilations. Actually that's not entirely true. I also buy porn if there's something amazingly fucked up in it. I have one with a woman called Belladonna taking the large end of a baseball bat up her ass. It doesn't turn me on, but I like that it exists. There are guys who trade porn with each other. That's creepy.
See, you're creepy.

i love me some porn! there's nothing wrong with totally digging it and there are a lot of creepy people toward's but there's creepy people in basically everything in life. now the people who need to go to every convention and change the family camping trip because they just now realized it fall's on the same weekend of the avn awards there's something totally fucked up with those individuals.

Not to mention following up the revelation that she leaves behind a young daughter with a selection of nude pics of the deceased.

I don't get that, at all.

Do you shed a noble tear in her honour as you spray a thick arc of sticky paste into your hand? Do you think of her, looking down from heaven at your hunched shoulders and ecstatic grimace as you shudder your way to a lonely orgasm? Do you think "This is what she would've wanted" as you pump relentlessly towards release, eyes fixated on the tiny pixel representation of her cold, dead pussy?

Weird. And, yes, creepy.
So signature worthy, but I will resist.

Okay I've been watching this thread and I have to come in and comment. Dan that was spot on. People who are "addicted" to or collect porn are creepy. See also men who use prostitutes on a regular basis. It is abusive to women and causes you to view them solely as objects. Hell when I was in the throes of it I know I was creepy. I even creeped myself out from time to time.

When you were in the throes of what, porn or prostitutes? Do tell.

There was a "Favourite porn star" thread on this very forum where someone posted a list of his top100 list of pornstars!
Dedication!
Geezus - are there enough notable pornstars to make a Top 100 list? The only names I know are Jenna Jameson and Janine. I'm sure there are several more...but 100?

It's pretty serious if you lose your job over it. If I had to guess, I'd say that computers are dangerous things.
