Ginger Snaps: Unleashed

Holy shit, what a cool little flick. Watched this last night, and I think as a horror film, it's better than the first. Some nicely creepy bits, and a decent looking werewolf (I dug that it looked like a man, yet walked on all fours). Good stuff!

I totally agree with you. I have been trying to pimp that movie to friends since it came out, but they think it looks like shit. It has one of the ballsiest endings I have seen in a while. Great movie.

Yep totally agree. Cool under rated flick that had one of the most twisted endings since the fly. well, it left me feeling the same way 'The fly' did at the end.

Ginger snaps 3 sucked ass tho.

well.. ok .. it was decent but didnt compare to the first two. Very lame ending.

Agreed. Didn't really like it the first viewing, but only because I was expecting it to be more like Ginger Snaps than it was. Later, though, I realized how good it was, especially the ending.

I still like the first one a lot more, though. The humor in that fillm kills me.

I've only seen 2 once, and it was before I had seen any of the others so I had a hard time getting into it not knowing anything about the characters or the story. However, since seeing the original (which I loved) and 3 (which I really enjoyed) I need to go back and check this out again. The only thing I remember was that group masturbation scene. I didn't mind it at all, but at the time it seemed a little out of place. Will definitely give this another shot.

Not sure how I ended up seeing them all out of order, though...

Agreed! GS:U is one of my favorite recent films, and a great addition to the Canadian horror canon.

The 2nd and 3rd were "eh." Not terrible, but not as good or funny.

Unleashed is my favorite of the 3. I'm most likely going to buying all 3 for Christmas. I've seen all of them numerous times, but haven't bought them yet because Best Buy doesn't ever have anything that I want to buy. So eBay it is.

Very cool film. The female point of view of lycanthropy (read: menstruation) is different and the werewolf design is very similar to An American Werewolf in London with excellent effects by KNB. I thought Emily Perkins in the first installment was pretty cute and her strung-out look brought on the by the werewolf effects in this film made her even hotter in my eyes.

I enjoyed the characterizations such as the orderly in the mental hospital that Bridgette (Perkins) is checked into - who issues drugs to the female patients for sex. Then there's Bridgette's dead sister Ginger who returns from the dead to warn her sister about her impending change - a homage to An American Werewolf, and the Short Round-like sidekick to Brigette, Ghost, who emerges as a nice suprise in the end.

I'll have to check out part three now, a prequel that uses the same actors.

Loved it. Not as much as the first, but really one of the few good horror sequels, of which there seem to be so few. Someone should do a list, maybe tne best horror sequels or something.

What I like about the trilogy=

- Nice twist on the werewolf story. Curse? You betcha. Metaphor for girls' puberty, study of suburbia, etc.
- Clever writing, well acted & directed.
- Each movie is unique in the genre and from each other. Even if the 2 sisters are a constant, all 3 films feel distinctly different from each other and are valid in their own ways.

Loving Canada even more

watching the first film and Dog Soliders almost back to back was great and the Ginger Snaps two sequels are both good with Unleashed being the best of the bunch. I also like how not only the cast but a good portion of the crew were retained throughout the movies. Sort of like the SAW films.

I loved the first film, so I have been wanting to see this and the third one.
Money's tighter than I'd like, though.
