Tron in Kingdom Hearts 2 - Page 3

Yeah, I'm into the real game now, and it's obviously a lot better. Still, that four hour piece of shit intro better have some sort of narrative payoff.

It accentuates the Christ parallels found in the betrayal and redemption of Winnie the Pooh.

This game is a pretty big letdown so far.

Incredible production values and some fun-if-repetative action, but it's just so lazy. "Hey, remember all those levels you trudged through in the last game and all those characters you met? Well, HERE THEY ARE AGAIN!" Same team-ups, same bosses, even some of the same subplots. And don't even get me started on the stupid fucking nonsense that's supposed to be a plot, or how awkward all the FF cameos are this time around.

I'm still playing, so it's obviously doing something right, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is.

this game is going to take me about a month to beat because I only play this like 30 minutes a day.

Right now I'm in the Magical Kingdom world.

I don't think you'll be angry you spent the time playing it, but it's just not a "better-than-the-first" kind of experience. It is repetitive, and there's not enough of the new. And that payoff your hoping for? Kind of.

It's just got so much that doesn't fit together. If you give me a Pirates of the Caribbean level, I want it to matter. And yeah, the Hundred Acre Wood is EXACTLY the same as the first game. As it stands, Pirates can be completely excised and it would literally not affect the game whatsoever. And the aforementioned Maleficent and Pete thing. It's a fun game, but I wish I could take all of the great (the updated look and controls) and just stick it back into the original. I hope the third one is better, if unwanted. I'll certainly play it.

The stuff that needed discussing from me:

The triangle button and commands. Love this stuff. The double menu needs to go, though. Get rid of some options if you have to, 'cause I'm sick of Forming when I meant to Summon.

The Journal: I can't complain about too much in here, but it certainly had me bewildered and confused for a while. Some of the completion requirements are a little ridiculous (30-45 of EVERY KIND OF MATERIAL??), but you can't whine about something being too comprehensive, much like DVD's.

[Sephiroth]: Still haven't beat him. He makes me so angry, and that's why I love him.

[The Dragon during the final battle]: Horrendous. It's not good when I'm mad because I'm so bored during a boss fight.

The popularity of this game is utterly mind-boggling to me (as is the game itself, for that matter).

I mean...what the....XXXX....it's disney characters mixed with Square characters, right? That sounds preposterous.

Not since the thread discussing the alleged greatness of Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time have I been left so baffled by the CHUD population's apparent enthusiasm for a game. Admittedly, I've never played KH2, so it might be the greatest game ever....but....it's Disney characters!

The fact that I am coming so close to agreeing with Devin is almost as frightening as the thought of RPG'ing as Mickey Mouse.

I just don't get this argument. Who cares who it is? Especially with the silly shit we love as movie fans.

I don't really get the "how can you like this?" question, either. People like what they like. Nobody defended these game as masterpieces. I've said I find it fun.

If we all just accept each other's tastes as being equally valid to our own, and dismiss the notion of objective analysis, we won't have much to talk about...will we?

You don't like Mario or Zelda? And don't understand why other people like them?

I always have start to assume someone is pretty entrenched in the closet when I hear a gamer make such a statement. I'm still trying to fiish KH1 one, I got to the Alice in Wonderland level and lost all will to play.
I don't blame you. I felt the same way. That level blows, and it was foolish to put something so boring right up front in the beginning.
Fuck this game. As if the level design wasn't lazy enough before, now you want me to trudge back through all of the exact same maps again?

And hey, look, there's Sephiroth again. Wank wank wank. And Cloud acting all angsty. Wank wank wank.

Slater's not a fan.

Yeah, Overlord's gotta stop prefacing his videogame comments with that. It's not so much your personal dislike for those games, man, it's your impression that this board has some uniquely peculiar enthusiasm for them.

So is it utterly worthless to play KH2 if you haven't finished KH1? I tried it a while back, was considering renting this.

Game Informer had a great article recently on the "sacred cows" of video-gaming, and why those games actually were over-rated. I basically agreed with almost everything stated.

Link, as the effeminate elf-dude with a friendly pony and flute playing ability (and inability to jump) wasn't the greatest action hero, the Halo single player sucked (it did), Grand Theft Auto III's pizza delivery missions and lack of a save feature were horrific (they were)....etc. Other titles such as Super Mario Bros. I, StarCraft, and Final Fantasy were skewered.

It's worth reading. I'll try to find the link.

Halo's single player sucked? GTA's III Pizza Missions? Yeah, these guys are iconoclasts.

I hope the rest of the article is better.

Not at all. Just look on Wikipedia if you have any questions.
It's not.

The article is the game nerd equivalent of "I don't see what's so great about Citizen Kane/The Beatles/Shakespeare."

The article was a bit over-the-top.

Goldberg, you like the Halo single player? As compared to Half-Life, Far Cry, and countless other FPS's? Halo multi-player was a revelation, but the single player mode flat-out sucked.
I know it sucked. Everyone knows it sucked. It's not a "sacred cow".
I don't think it sucked. I think it was pretty fucking great.
Nothing like a 90-minute final boss battle with no save points at two o'clock in the morning to burn away my last little nugget of goodwill for this pile.

What an awful game. Easily on par with Prince of Persia: Warrior Within as one of those sequels that manages to ruin every single thing I enjoyed about the original game.

And if there's a more embarrassing, who-the-fuck-wrote-this-shit moment in gaming than seeing Tron learn to hug and then get tickled, God help us all.

Bleh. I hate Square.
I called the boss battle above. The dragon was the worst, for me. Sorry the game raped however many hours of your life you spent on it, man.

Get to work on that Jiminy Journal!
I'm getting to work on taking this motherfucker back to Blockbuster so I never have to play it again.

Question for those who played Kingdom Hearts II:

I'm half way through the game and now 2 planets I"m trying to access are covered in a green haze (as if locked)

they are the pride lands (which I never went to) and Aladdin's planet which I thought I had unlocked...

Am I screwed now in trying to go there?

I'm currently at the point where Malicifent helped me escape from the heartless and ORginazation XIII so I have access to all the worlds except these 2 worlds I just mentioned.

is there any way to go back to them or must I beat the game as is and play through a second time... which would totally suck?
