Movies with bands in them

My brother just brought my attention to this film....

Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park

I have a new mission in life, and that is to see this film. I don't even like Kiss. I was wondering how many other movies there were based on a band in a fictional situation. Spinal Tap is the obvious choice, but how many other absurd movies can be added to this list that are similiar to this one?
The Village People had a movie, called You Can't Stop The Music. Of course, the Ramones in Rock n Roll High School. Frank Zappa in 200 Motels. That KISS movie...man. It's funny.

For fictional bands, there's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, Ladies and Gentlemen the Fabulous Stains, Desperate Teenage Lovedolls (and it's sequel, Lovedoll Superstar), Get Crazy, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Velvet Goldmine, Breaking Glass (or is it Smithereens? I get those mixed up), The Blues Brothers...

Strange Fruit and Almost Famous, are two fictional ones i can think of.

Yellow Submarine, Help!, A Hard Days Night - all Beatles films.
Let us not forget The Rutles, for fictional band films.

For real bands (semi-real), there's The Monkees in Head.

Real-life musicians starring as themselves in fictional films:

Spice Girls in Spice World.
Paul McCartney in Give My Regards to Broad Street.
A bunch of DefJam artists in Krush Groove.
Sex Pistols in The Great Rock and Roll Swindle.
Michael Jackson in Moonwalker.

Real-life musicians starring as other musicians in fictional films:

Vanilla Ice in Cool as Ice.
The Fat Boys in Disorderlies.
Neil Diamond in The Jazz Singer.
Roy Orbison in The Fastest Guitar Alive.
Mariah Carey in Glitter.
Britney Spears in Crossroads.
Bob Dylan in Masked and Anonymous.
Bee Gees and Peter Frampton in Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Bee Gees in Cucumber Castle.
Prince in Purple Rain.

What we really need is an NC-17 rated TATU movie.

Let's not forget the fine animated shows featuring the Beatles and the Jackson 5.

Yessssssss...

also, I'm pretty sure Ministry is playing themselves in A.I.
Not sure how valid this is as they were only in the movie for a few minutes, but Sh-Na-Na as Johnny Casino & The Gamblers in Grease

90s crap rock icons Sugar Ray were in the epic Robin Williams/Billy Crystal film Father's Day.

Also, White Zombie in Airheads.
Sugar Ray was also in the Scooby Doo Movie. Geezus they suck.
Let's not forget L7's unforgettable portrayal as the band Camel Toe in John Waters' Serial Mom.

And Primus in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Holy Shit, That's Jonny From Radiohead!!!!!
The Jeff Healy Band brought their own special brand of bar brawlin' rock and/or roll to Roadhouse.
The Amen Corner in "Scream and Scream Again." Your one stop for Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Psychedelia in Swingling London!
Blink and you'll miss Southern Culture on the Skids playing at a beach party in I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Bruce Dickinson, the Iron Maiden singer, appears briefly in Incubus.

Jon Bon Jovi ruins Vampires 2.

Alice Cooper plays a possessed hobo in Prince of Darkness.

Hot lesbo action!

Jon Bon Jovi was also in "Young Guns II" (I guess he likes sequels).
The Jeff Healey Band performed "Smoke gets in your eyes" in "Always" (ironic song choice for that band)
And speaking of Radiohead, they made an appearance in "Scott Tennerman must die", one of the funniest episodes of South Park ever.
Also, Steve Vai at the end of "Crossroads" (the Macchio movie, not the Spears movie).

Doesn't get much better for me than Tony Coca-Cola and the Roosters in Driller Killer.
Wasn't there an episode of MIAMI VICE with Suicidal Tendencies?
GWAR was in Empire Records.

Smashmouth was in the worst ending to a movie of all time, Rat Race.
I'm shilling for local talent, but near the end of Shopgirl a Detroit band named The Volebeats makes an appearance. They're pretty good.
I'm surprised that Repo Man wasn't mentioned. The Circle Jerks have an appearance (I'm pretty sure doing an acoustic set but it's been a while).

Straight To Hell!

Everyone's in that movie. Pogues, Strummer, Costello...
I thinks Slash was, hilariously, in the Dead Pool.
Guns N Roses, Liam Neeson, Jim Carrey and Clint Eastwood together at last!
The Bauhaus made an awesome appearance in The Hunger and David Bowie sort of starred in. David Bowie also played an alien musician in The Man Who Fell To Earth
post #34 of 42
Alice in Chains and a couple of Pearl Jam dudes in "Singles".

Helmet in "The Jerky Boys".

Cannibal Corpse in "Ace Ventura Pet Detective".
Wasn't this supposed to be for movies about a band? We're now listing every movie that had an eight-second appearance by a band.

The problem is that the title just says "Movies with bands in them," so before you even open the thread you've already thought of too many cool appearances to turn back.

The fear of not being 'on topic' can never destroy an interesting post.

Placebo appears in VELVET GOLDMINE as The Flaming Creatures covering Marc Bolan's "20th Century Boy," and Thom Yorke sings the vocals for several of the songs on the soundtrack, including Jack Fairy's resplendent cover of Bryan Ferry's "2HB."

God I love that movie.
Tapeheads any body? There's a laundry list of band people in that, yes I know the movie isn't about a band but it's about the music industry. Fishbone are the only ones in it as a whole band, but I think it's worth a post .

Fishbone
Sam Moore
Junior Walker
Stiv Bators
Jello Biafra
Zander Schloss
Weird Al Yankovic
Doug E. Fresh
Mike Nesmith - who also produced
Ted Nugent
Courtney Love

Oh and The Donnas as The Electrocuties in Drive Me Crazy

Well, I apologize for my all-too-vague topic description but as Werewolf Girl said, no reason the title should stop anyone from posting something interesting. I was actually waiting to get flamed with "This post has already been done" by someone.

An early version of Vixen plays in Hardbodies
Ozzy shows up in Trick or Treat
Gene Simmons is a villain in Runaway and Wanted Dead or Alive
Autograph performs in Like Father Like Son
Joan Jett stars in Light of Day
Bret Michaels (Poison) stars in A Letter from Death Row
Aerosmith performs in Wayne's World 2 and Be Cool
AC/DC performs in Private Parts
Jon Bon Jovi also appears in U571, The Leading Man, etc...
Vince Neil (Motley Crue) fronts a band in The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, also featuring Tone Loc
Twisted Sister briefly performs in Pee Wee's Big Adventure
Ronnie James Dio is apparently going to appear in the Tenacious D film

Then you have more seasoned actors like David Bowie and Sting

The Clash (or at least most of 'em. I'm sure I spotted Joe and Mick) are in Scorsese's 'the King of Comedy' as street punks who harass Rupert Pupkin at one point.
