What was that movie in Appalachian mountains?

There was a movie that came out in the early 70's about a guy that goes up into the Appalachian mountains and battles monsters and witches.... The only real scene I remember, is where this guy walks up to a large tree that has a door in it, and when he opens it, there is a room inside the tree with a beautiful woman inside. He goes into the room, and the door closes and locks behind him, and then the beautiful woman turns into an evil old hag!

Does anyone know the name of the movie?

I can't remember the title for the life of me...

The Legend of Hillbilly John?

Yes, you're thinking of The Legend of Hillbilly John. Its based on the Silver John novels/short stories by Manly Wade Wellman.
