Xmas is coming, and its finally time to extend my xbox library. For the Xbox (not the 360) what are the top games i should defiently have?

Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition....just a fantastically immersive game world mixed with missions which have a machiovellian delicousness to them.

Can't say i've heard of pirates!.. but i am defiently going to pick up Half Life 2 and Morrowind goty. Anything Else?

I second Burnout...do NOT confuse Pirates! with the Pirates of the Carebearean adaptation* or Black Kat: Pirates...you want the Sid Meir version. (It's a graphical upgrade of one of the classic PC games from the 80's, and it translates very well).

GTA: San Andreas

SSX Tricky is fun if you like that sort of game. It's the one with a sense of humor.


*It was actually a russian pirate game using Bethesda's Elder Scrolls: Morrowind engine that Disney bought and tossed out. It's got nothing to do with the movie, and was obviously intened to be a free-roaming, 3D RP version of Sid Meir's old game. It's...not that good. It's not horrible, it's just kinda boring.

Dead or Alive Ultimate + DOA 3 (The two are almost symbiotic and DOA 3 can be found for less than $10 now)

I highly recommend Pirates! -- I don't know anyone who's played it that doesn't enjoy it.

Burnout 3 and SSX3 are probably the games I play the most in my whole collection. You can probably find them for $30. Also, Halo 2 if you don't already have it.

Also, Beyond Good and Evil is an awesome game. Really unique, and you can probably find it for $10.

I highly recommend Prince of Persia: Sands of time. One of my all time favs for this current generation of consoles. Its beautiful, the music is great and the gameplay cant be beat. Do not i repeat do not get the sequel Warrior within because its not nearly as good. Also Burnout 3 is simply amazing.

Ug, I wrote this big ol' list with reasons why each game was on there, then my computer froze. Here's the quick and dirty version. Some of these games have sequels now, and in many cases the sequels are inferior in some way or another, so I'm sticking with the games where I felt the series' hit their peaks. Doesn't hurt matters that the older ones are cheaper, either.

halo series- just because. the quintisential xbox game.
splinter cell series- arguably the best sneaker/action game.
prince of persia sands of time- an all around FUN game. enjoyable story.
star wars KOTOR- good story and cool RPG engine (and i'm not a fan of RPG's)
jade empire- the KOTOR engine turned up a couple of notches. i liked the story also
GTA series- better looking that the ps2's
crimson skies- adventure up the wazoo. indy jones like feel
ghost recon series- realistic shooter
