Incredibles DVD news

Thread Starter
I was just wondering if anyone has heard news of a double-dipped Incredibles DVD? It is about time for one. I watched the movie twice this week and then some of the special feature disk again and I realized that a review that I had read was correct in that the voice talent was not in any of the special features (other than lending their voices to the characters for bonus stuff). This seems like a huge gap in a release by a self-professed DVD hound (Bird) and would be perfect material to draw in new purchases on a new release.

What do you guys think?

The actors of a film not appearing much in the special features is nothing new, the rest of the stuff on the Incredibles set is comprehensive enough, and Toy Story 1 & 2 notwithstanding (and even with those, there's decent reason), Pixar doesn't double dip.

I think the DVD is comprehensive enough. Is there room for improvement in terms of special features? Of course. There almost always is. But I think it's a solid two-disc set and it's one of the most beautiful looking/sounding discs in my collection.

It's good enough as it is. Disney only comes out with new releases of their films every 5 or 6 years, though, so don't expect another one soon.

The question that should be posed...

How often are you actually going to go back and watch the special features again before you do the film?

There was some talk a while back that the studios would stop producing special features for DVDs, which caused an outcry from DVD fans.

I am a fan of comprehensive special features, but I don't a DVD based on those alone.

Not entirely true - there's been three versions of The Emperor's New Groove released since 2001. Not saying it happens all that often, but it does happen.

Personally, I'm happy with my Incredibles DVD. I'd be interested in checking out any extra features they might add but it would have to be something special to get me to re-buy.

It's a pretty stunning DVD. Why would you want a new one?

Ometiklan, where is this "news" you promise us? How deceptive and suspicious of you. I can't decide which scenario I prefer less: that of you actively calling for a double dip on a sufficiently packed release or that of you testing the waters for one in order to report your findings to some marketing entity.

And Disney's "Vault" method of home video release was meant to remind parents to pick up a new copy of a movie for their kids or as a gift for other folks' kids when the original copy (VHS, of course) became well-worn due to the little TV-raised rugrats' nonstop viewings of a particular title. Other reasons were applicable as well, but that always seemed to me to be the unstated goal.

If he is, he sure has been biding his time...
