Best Xbox Live games

Ok - so i have played countless hours of Halo 2 on Xbox Live. But i am trying to broaden my horizens and find other games that are good for xbox live.

So my question is which games do you feel are esstenital games to own for Xbox live?

burnout revenge is super cool to play online. highly addicting imo

it sucks that i cant play it on my 360. have to wait til march when the 360 version comes out should be pretty sweet.

AHA! So that's why Burnout isn't backwards compatible, I should've known... damn EA, hehehe

Anyways, for every game that plays well on LIVE, I've played two or three that are a laggy mess. The Microsoft released games seem to do pretty well. Stuff like Halo 2(of course), MechAssault, Crimson Skies, etc. The Splinter Cell sequels are a blast on LIVE as well.

DOA 2 Ultimate and MK Deception are both pretty fun online. DOA Ultimate might get a little empty once DOA4 hits, but still, they're fun.

In theory, so is Street Fighter Annviersary, but that community's just full of people who take 2D fighters a little TOO seriously.

After playing the shit out of Halo 2, I just bought Battlefield 2:Modern Combat. I am having a lot of fun with that one. It's like a mix of Halo 2 and SOCOM.

I've had nothing but bad luck with DOA:U. First I spent an ungodly amount of time unlocking everything, only to find that I can't use any of the stuff I've unlocked without my expired LIVE account. Then, half the games I've played have had some lag. Not always a lot, but lag in that game can be enough to fuck over the round. After a while I just said "screw it" and went back to Halo 2.

I have Deception but haven't played it on LIVE, maybe I'll give it a go this weekend, even though I kind of hate that game.

Project Gotham 2 is still my second favorite live experience. The first being Halo 2, but PGR2 got almost as many hours.

Don't know how 3 is because I don't have a 360, but I heard that there are just exotics in the game. That kinda bums me out.

Star Wars Battlefront and Halo 2 are all I play at this point. I had a good time with Crimson Skies, but it got old.

Anyone played Counter-Strike? Which is better, counter-strike or splinter cell? I want something I can become competent at fairly quickly.

Haven't touched the XBox version of Counter-Strike but all reports are that it is next to worthless. Splinter Cell 2 and 3, on the other hand, are fried gold (if you can find exactly 3 other decent people to match up against... best if it's people you know). As an added bonus Splinter Cell 3 has a Live Co-op mode that's worthwhile.
