Why No Hill Street Blues?

Not sure if this is the right forum or this should go in the TV forum but...

With seemingly every TV ever made being put on DVD does anyone have any clue why this masterpiece hasn't been released yet? It there a problem with the rights? What's Bochco waiting on? Come to think of it, LA Law isn't on DVD yet either is it?

This and St. Elsewhere are the two most glaring omissions in the TV on DVD library.

The first season of "Blues" is scheduled to come out on January 31st. I was a bit too young for this show when it was first on but I remember it being my Dad's favorite show during that era. Hopefully he'll remain clueless about it being available until around Father's Day.

It was the only cop show I ever really got into. It was riveting, and handled things we'd never seen on television before. Like the fact that young pretty people weren't the only human beings who had sex.

Even if the first season comes out, don't count on any more seasons being put out unless it sells well. The TV DVD landscape is littered with first seasons which didn't sell well. See e.g., Twin Peaks, of which there are only two fucking seasons.

Isn't Twin Peaks down to rights issues more than anything else?
