Happy Life Day, All!

We can't have a Holiday season go by without one thread devoted to "The Star Wars Holiday Special",the Bastard Child of the Star Wars Universe.
This might be the wrong section, but the special is so.....unique....I though a catch all would be the best place for it.
So many fond memories......Wookie Porn......Carrie Fisher coked out of her mind and showing she inherited so singing talent whatsoever from her parents.....Lumpy the most annoyning kid in history......Jefferson Fucking Starship...Harrison Ford looking as happy to be in the special as he would being told he had cancer......
No wonder Lucas has stated that if he had his way he would track down every copy of this in existence and destroy it.
What is most pitiful of all is that there are people on some Star Wars sites who take this piece of shit seriously as part of the Star Wars mythos.

Holiday special? Don't you mean CHRISTMAS special? Fuckin' liberals, trying to take Star Wars away from Jesus...

Jesus does'nt want it...the Holiday special is the work of Dark Forces if ever there was one.

I haven't seen this thing since it aired on television. Which means I barely remember a thing other than some Wookie cave family.
I'd love to see it again as an adult to appreciate how bad and commercial it is, though.

I'm pretty sure we COULD stand to have a Holiday season go by without bringing up this piece of moronic drivel again.

I saw the original broadcast as a child. It made me profoundly sad when Chewbacca Jr. found his stuffed animal with the head ripped off by a stormtrooper.

Oh, it's moronic drivle all right, but it is fun to rip it apart.

This is one of those things thats a lot funnier on paper than in execution. Friends and I revisited it about ten years ago and I don't even remember making it to the end. It gets plenty dull after about ten minutes.

Some things are so bad that they're just bad. Everyone knows that the Star Wars Holiday Special is bad. We don't need to make a tradition out of saying it's bad. Guess what! It was realily shitty last year, and it's going to be really shitty next year!

Brad's heart is three sizes too small.
We must all join hands and sing the Bea Arthur torch song in order to infuse him with the Life Day spirit.

Anybody have a link to this to download? I used to have it before a virus wiped out my harddrive.

Yeah, the show was the virus. You don't want that back.

So is this something I should be happy I've never seen? Or is it one of those things you have to see once no matter how bad it is?
Ive been sent a copy of it, i fear for my soul if i ever watch it though. f you are interested there are pleanty of websites that do a blow by blow of the thing.

It's the second. It is incredibly bad...any number of websites will give you the gruesome details....but you will not understand the full horror until you see it yourself. It does have, the first time through, a train wreck kind of fascination, where it is horrible and gruesome, buy you just can't look away.
And it does have a certain historical interest if you are a STar Wars fan for being the first appreance of Boba Fett.
I would like to find out the details of how this piece of shit happened. There are several variant background stories out there.

You really don't need to see it. It's just another stupid TV special.

Watch Legends of The Superheros instead. It's totally worth it just for GhettoMan.

I agree.

A worthy thread. This abomination must never be forgotten. Don't forget the Grandpa Wookie masturbation sequence (I'm not kidding).

hmmmmm

I downloaded it ages ago, saw the Boba Fett cartoon bit - cant bring myslef to watch the rest (apparently Hamill sings a rendition of the Star Wars theme). I will when I have enough paraphenalia to delete the abomination from my minds eye.

until then - I must only imagine Granpa Wookie shaving the salami, although not too hard I hope otherwise you'll get hairy palms......never mind....

If I remember correctly it was a coked-up Carrie Fisher who sings a song to the theme.

Ho ho ho. Way funny, especially because in my head I heard it in Stormy's voice.
