I'm on the second disc, and I'm loving this series like never before. The quality is still evident many episodes later. When the series reached this apex, my TV viewing was at a very minimum, so I missed out on these, but I can't say enough how enjoyable and fresh it is.
The new look of the Scarecrow is a plus -- he's even more demented and creepy than before. I'm not too crazy about the design of Nightwing's suit, but the character itself works. The new Robin, Tim Drake, is a cool sidekick to Batman's passive side. The Joker's revamped design...I dunno, his earlier look worked for me. I didn't see the need for them to change it, but it's nothing drastic, and certainly not as awful as the one featured in The Batman series.
I love the episodes that explore the villains' attempts at rehabilitation. "Double Talk" is a gem, featuring the ventriloquist Arnold Wesker fighting off his alter-ego Scarface from coming back to a life of crime. "You Scratch My Back" has the unlikely team-up of Nightwing and Catwoman...you just know there's something fishy (sorry) with Catwoman's true intentions. "Joker's Millions" is another great excuse to show the Joker hamming it up as he forks over his unflattering history for an inheritance worth millions. Watching him play golf is a hoot. The new Harleys auditioning for him are funny as hell.
