WATCHMEN, FLIGHT 93 and more to come!

Great interview, although I'm pretty bummed to learned that he's basically moved on from Watchmen.

Another solid interview. It sounds like he really has a thoughtful perspective on these projects. It's sad that someone who sounds thoughtful is SO refreshing, but I guess that's the state we're in most of the time.

By the way, I didn't post that seeking "Good job!" posts. I honestly think there's discussion material in what he said.

Indeed. Were those the standard promo pics or stuff he sent you especially?

I'd love to discuss it, but I don't know anything about Watchmen, at all. You should know by now that I’m a complete comic-book/graphic novel ignoramus.

I do admire Greengrass's catalogue of work, though (especially Bloody Sunday and The Murder of Stephen Lawrence).

hmmm

Great interview, the man is a big hero of mine. It is a real kick in the arse to see Watchmen float away - I think he'd have pulled it off.

I am finding these 9/11 movies in real bad taste - although I think his will be the antidote to Stones'.

It is fantastic to hear/read someone talk with such lucidity and clarity of vision. The man deserves to become a legend, Hollywood needs to wise up and pump money into new directors visions instead of rewarding the diabolical.

If Coppola wanted to do Watchmen-he'd no doubt get the gig - lets forget the fact that the man hasnt made a decent flick in decades!!! Stone is another, leads me to disbelief that Aronofsky actually has to STRUGGLE to get the budget he so richly deserves.

Greengrass has impressed me in each film he's made. The shaky cam was the only thing that ruined a film that built on its predecessor amicably, although it was put to brilliant effect in Sunday Bloody Sunday - a film so gritty it looks like the news footage of the incident. I recommend you check it out.

So what was the cast he was going to get for Watchmen? Or is that still confidential.

And 102 Minutes? Is that the title of Oliver Stone's 9/11 movie, or did I misread it?

excellent interview. this wasn't a movie that particularly interested me... i guess i was expecting the full "Hollywood" treatment to be applied but i'm reassured that with Greengrass at the helm, he'll steer away from that kind of sentimentality and give us a raw, unflinching and thought provoking account of, not just what happened on that flight, but how the events of that day affects us all to this day.

by contrast, i really couldn't care less about Stone's 9/11 flick.

sad to hear that Watchmen is pretty much dead in the water. Paramount would be fools if they didn't realise the commercial potential of that flick... or are they banking on Comic Book movies having had their day at the B.O.?

You know what, I totally respect the vision and the thought that Paul had put into the pre-production of the film, and if the script is a good as everyone is saying I'm not totally bummed out about Paramount dropping the project.

Word is that Warner Bros has picked it up now and are awaiting the results of V for Vendetta, although word also is that the script would be reworked. I think if V goes really well then I can hopefully see somehow that they will use David Hayters script, and, seeming Aronofsky will have finished with The Fountain, maybe it could all come full circle?

Who knows, that's just hoping.

Based on the shaky cam from Bourne I was worried about the actually look of the Watchmen more than anything else.

Probably not, being that they're distributing the next ten Marvel Films.

Greengrass is an auteur. I will see all his stuff from now on, and catch up with his back-catalogue.

Maybe its hyperbole to get people interested, but I certainly dont agree that 9/11 is the most important event in our lifetime. Hiroshima, Germany invading Poland, Rwanda have all had a far greater impact on world events and the prism thru which we see them.

to get people interested in the film hes making, is what I meant.
