The South Park DVDs cost too much.

$45 for fourteen 22-minute episodes is not a good value, which is a shame because I love the show. I just don't want to pay more for 308 minutes of entertainment when I've paid far less for 968 minutes from dramatic shows or 484 minutes for other comedies.

I agree.

Just like Seinfeld, Homicide: Life on the streets, The Simpsons, or any other great tv, I've always said that I'll wait for the box set, but they keep fucking me in the ass.

So I guess I'll keep waiting.

I think the Simpsons are super-reasonable. Usually $29 for 24 episodes (Season 1 notwithstanding)? Not bad at all.

Yeah, the Simspons sets are okay, although the newest DVD sets tend to cost around $35 or $40.

I guess I also meant WAITING for the box sets is a drag. Since they release them in 2 or 3 season packs, or one at a time (Simpsons), even for shows that are done.

I'm doing the opposite of what I normally do with anime, I'm waiting for the cheaper box sets.

Yeah the wait, especially for The Simpsons, is a drag. I mean Season 7 just came out and there's going to be at LEAST 18 of them. That'll be a collection that takes a long time to complete.

But, back on topic, I agree that the South Park sets are overpriced. I kind of wished they'd go back to the original release strategy and do single disc volumes.

Maybe it's time for Parker and Stone to blow their own (puppet) heads off in TEAM AMERICA II.
i heard P&S once say that they sold the rights to south park to comedy central a while back. they stated that it was cc that went on the overwelling merchandising blitz with their show.

correction: the X-Files DVDs cost too much.

officially gone UP in price here in canada. what gives fox?

I think the Star Trek sets pretty much win the case for overpriced DVDs. 100+ bucks for a single season set? I don't care if it was an hour-long show, that's way too much. Which is a shame, because there are some seasons of Next Generation I wouldn't mind picking up (mainly the ones in the middle of the shows run, after it dropped the cheesy tone and employing things like character development).

I agree on the matter of Star Trek. Those sets definitely need a price drop.

As for the X-Files, they have been cutting the prices on the sets by releasing them in new packaging. Also, no one really cares about the X-Files anymore. The first three seasons currently run for $50 a piece and on March 28, seasons 4, 5, and 6 will cost $50 each as well.

Yeah. but at some point you're going to seriously question wether you need Season 11 or Season 13.

I don't really recall any shows that can be considered "classic" after about Season 9.

All the memorable shows/lines, to me at least, fell between Seasons 4-9.

But i DO love the show and odds are by the end I'll need a whole shelf or two for just those DVDs.

Damn you Greoning!

...at least you guys get the sets...I've been waiting 3+ years for the Twin Peaks Season 2 set...looks like I'll be waiting the rest of my life...

I agree with the Trek box sets. Insane. I've seen them for $162 (Canadian) in stores. That's the highest. That fucking blows to every degree.

Oz is over priced as well.

Seeing as

1) That's somewhat illegal and more importantly

2) Each episode is around 350 MB. Just one season would cost your computer 7.7 GB. That's an awful waste of space.
