Whatever happened to "Cinescape" magazine?

Whatever happened to Cinescape magazine? Did that magazine cease publication so that the website (http://www.cinescape.com) took its place?

People still read magazines?

Cinescape was great back in the 90's but as sites like this started to get going there was no purpose for a magazine to give you news (perhaps "speculation" is a better term for what the mag offered) every month that you could get from the Internet for free every day.

Having Mark A. Altman write the back page column probably didn't help them much either.

First it got bought by the old Fandom.com, and it stayed pretty solid, but then Fandom went out of business and the mag was bought by Mania Entertainment, which has run it into the ground. I don't think they publish it anymore.

I gave up a few years ago on Cinescape and now I go with Hotdog, Rue Morgue, Shock Cinema, and sometimes Empire, but even now I'm kinda getting over them and not buying magazines as much as I used to.

I loved Cinescape. It's a shame it's gone.

I've pretty much dropped all my magazine subscriptions at this point. I can't believe there are still so many of them launching in this day and age. As much as I hate pop-up ads, they're still better than flipping through 12 pages of ads before getting to the table of contents. I would have thought that between TV and the Internet, magazines and newspapers would be toast by now.

My only current subscriptions are to The New Yorker and Cinefex. Make of that what you will.

Mark A. Altman is the reason I cancelled my subscription. A great mag in it's day ruined by one of the most sour individuals I have ever read.

It was a decent read back in the mid-90s - nowadays, just Rue Morgue for me. Where have you gone, Movie Insider?

Ditto.

That was probably one of the best movie magazines I have ever seen, and there were only five or six issues. And I never got the last one.
